The most important thing is to engage with the student. It is more beneficial for the student and tutor to work together and be open to new ideas or methods to tackle questions. Instead of the tutor forcing the student to use one method, engaging with the student will lead to the most effective way to solve the question and will lead to successful…

A tutor needs to understand that every student learns differently. Therefore it is important to understand, especially if a tutor has multiple students, that one lesson won't have the same effect on every student. Tutors must adapt to teach students specific details they do not know and in specific ways. I'm proficient at adapting my teaching…

I think it’s not only about teaching them the assigned subjects but also guiding them and boosting their confidence when it comes to exams, presentation or any other academical activities. It shouldn’t be one way classes it should always be interactive, interesting and innovative. I would also focus on maintaining the tutor and the student…

As a tutor, I feel the ultimate goal is to benefit the student to become an independent and confident learner. Mostly, students see their tutors as role models, so it’s very important to keep ourselves updated and supportive throughout and be ready to reach out to them academically and as a friend whenever in need. To conclude, having confidence…

We should guide and support the students through their learning journey and ideally nurture their curiosity towards the different subjects so as to possibly develop a passion for a particular subject. I believe I am quite patient with my students as I have had experience with teaching those that have autism and ADHD before and did not have much…

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to keep them motivated. Often at a young age if we fail to grasp a concept it can damage our self-confidence. Therefore it is a tutor's responsibility to bring out the 'never give up'attitude in students and motivate them to continue trying until they can overcome the hurdle. Tutors should…

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is simply be open to answer any questions a student might have. They need to be able to grasp the entire concept so that it can be applied in their school work. In my personal opinion besides teaching a student what is in the unit/study guide, a tutor should be taking responsibility in creating a fun learning environment and encouraging and motivating the students to be confident. This would help to enhance the students performance. The strength I have as an individual is I am able to create a comfortable…

There are a lot of children who are scared of a subject or who always say „I‘m just not good at it“ and I want them to be able to say „Yeah, I understand it“ and feel better and more confident in the subject I am very patient and creative so I know many ways to explain one thing so that the individual child can…

The most important things a tutor can do for a student for mi consideration would be listening to my students and get to know them in order to adjust and assess my strategy and way of teaching as a tutor, and in that way the tutor can be the most creative as it can, giving hints and techniques to students on how to think by themselves, question…

I believe the most important thing a tutor can do is help a student build independence. I consider building confidence in a student highly important when tutoring. In my experience as a teacher, students often value one on one teaching where available. Being able to focus on one student and their needs within their own education, builds a more confident student whether in their work, or when seeking assistance from teachers. Building…

I believe the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to instil confidence in their ability to solve problems and understand concepts. A tutor should create an environment where students feel encouraged to engage with challenges, rather than…

The team at EzyMath tutoring are great. From the initial on-boarding to account queriers through to additional resources they have been prompt, proactive and really helpful - going above and beyond rather than just providing the basic answer. Linh, out tutor is fabulous, she is patient and knowledgeable and has provided my son with some new strategies and ways to approach his work. He's even finding himself enjoying maths and his confidence is building. I would highly recommend the team at EzyMath

Content Covered

Year 12 Will consolidated understanding of integration, focusing on finding areas between curves and definite integrals, then tackled probability concepts such as discrete random variables, expected value, and standard deviation.

For Year 12 Thanh, lessons centred on interpreting IR spectra and mass spectrometry results, alongside volumetric analysis techniques like identifying titrants and equivalence points.

Meanwhile, Year 11 Emma reviewed galvanic cells by comparing primary and secondary types and practiced explaining the limitations of electrochemical series in exam-style questions.

Recent Challenges

In Year 12 Maths Methods, Will often left classwork and chapter questions incomplete, which slowed his ability to master new concepts—one tutor noted, "Will was fairly behind his work and needed to catch up in maths."

During SACs and practice exams, inconsistent time management meant several questions were left unanswered or only partially attempted, costing valuable marks.

In Chemistry (Year 11), there was a tendency to re-ask previously answered questions without reviewing feedback, leading to repeated confusion on core ideas like titrations; as one session highlighted, "Thanh asked a few of the same questions that she asked last week."

Recent Achievements

One Ascot Vale tutor noticed a significant shift in Will, a senior student who now comes to sessions with specific questions prepared and has started tackling exam-style problems independently—something he hesitated to do before.

Another high school student, Thanh, recently brought along a set of self-identified weak points and was able to answer complex chemistry questions by linking new content to previous lessons, showing much more initiative than earlier in the term.

Meanwhile, Alice, in Year 8 science, managed to quickly apply tricky nomenclature rules for branched alkanes after initially struggling with the topic. This shows rapid mastery of concepts.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Ascot Vale Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Ascot Vale Primary School.
