So as a tutor I have to convert complex topics into simpler topics and prepare presentation and further experiment for understanding concept easily The friendly interaction with the students may help them to clarify their problem. One of the most important things a tutor can do for a student is to provide encouragement and maybe change their perspective on a subject that may seem difficult and overwhelming, to know they can achieve success in that subject. While creating a positive and inviting environment, where students are not anxious to ask questions or be involved, by…

I believe the most important things a tutor can do for a student are to build their confidence, encourage independent thinking, and foster a genuine interest in the subject. A tutor should not only help improve academic performance but also empower students to believe in their potential and enjoy the process of learning. My strengths as a tutor…

A tutors primary task is to help the student with what they want to be helped with, and as a part of that accommodating to their individual needs and goals. Doing anything else would simply be disingenuous. It is worth noting further that accommodating to the student's needs in any way reasonable is quite close to the most important thing a tutor…

Let them vent! A tutor shouldn't just teach the student, they should also listen. Having a young, relatable, smart person in your life to discuss your problems with is invaluable to the younger generation. On top of this, tutors should provide advice on any aspect of a student's life, more than just the subject(s) they're receiving tutoring…

I believe that since every student is different in the way they think and learn, it is important for a tutor to establish a connection and relationship with their students so the tutor can better understand the students habits. This would allow the tutor to better tailor their lessons towards the student so they learn and understand better. I have…

I think the most important thing for a tutor is to understand what the student needs and work through those blocks with positive reinforcement. Some students have a hard time understanding concepts while others have no faith in themselves and struggle to retain information. You can inspire a student and make him independent. The goal of a teacher (ironically) is to make himself redundant. Being able to develop self-learning skills and teaching oneself by asking right questions is the key process of learning. Eventually, you can master the art of learning itself and you don't need a teacher. I can be very friendly and…

To be attentive and to address the students personal needs for growth. The tutor should set an ideal example in terms of behaviour motivation and actions- one which a student should be able to look up to but also resonate with. This allows him to engage with the student at a personal level and provide better more relatable academic support, but…

In my view, the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to help them develop a deep understanding of the subject matter. This means going beyond simply helping them complete assignments and prepare for exams, and instead working with them to build a foundation of knowledge and skills that they can apply to future challenges. A good…

A tutor can train students to think, learn, and problem solving which are key skills in human learning, and especially significant in mathematical problem solving. The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to be a positive role model, and be someone to look up to, someone who can be relied upon for any academic issue. Inside BidwillTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 8 student Sofia focused on solving inequalities and understanding gradients in linear equations, using practice problems to reinforce each step.

For Year 11, Omar reviewed non-linear equations for an upcoming exam by tackling challenging worksheet questions, then shifted to English to develop ideas for a discursive essay based on scenes from "Pleasantville."

Meanwhile, Year 4 student Saanvi practiced double-digit addition and subtraction and was tested on her 9 and 12 times tables, with extra reading from "Danny's Dollars" to support comprehension skills.

Recent Challenges

Several high school students struggled with organization and written clarity.

In Year 9 algebra, one student's layout was flagged: "needs to show working out," making it difficult to spot errors when expanding and simplifying expressions.

A Year 11 student preparing for trigonometry with obtuse angles often avoided revisiting past mistakes—this meant minor errors persisted through revision, especially in exam settings.

At the primary level, a Year 3 student faced confusion adding numbers to zero; as noted, "the lack of understanding makes it difficult to add numbers to 0."

The impact is visible: lost marks and time spent retracing steps instead of building new skills.

Recent Achievements

One Bidwill tutor noticed a Year 10 student who used to guess quietly during algebra sessions now pausing to ask clarifying questions when stuck—something he never did before.

In senior maths, another high schooler who'd previously needed constant hints with network concepts recently completed an entire assignment independently without outside help.

For a younger student, reading fluency took a leap: she not only read "The Hungry Caterpillar" aloud but started sounding out unfamiliar words herself, rather than waiting for prompts from the tutor.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Mt Druitt Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Bidwill Public School.
