In my perspective, the most important things that a tutor can do for a student is that do not get the students hate and be sick of learning.Because learning is fun thing and you will become relatively smarter than others.Once again, forcing student to learn is awful. My goal is help them to learn. And i will try my best to be a good tutor…

I believe making a student become confident in their own ability is very important. Students sometimes have doubts themselves and I believe I can encourage them to be confident and actually enjoy learning. A tutor should also develop growth in a student and provide a practical path to succeed. I am relatable, hardworking and easy going. I am able…

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is guide them. What i mean by guiding them is correcting simple mistakes so that they would learn from them and remember not to make the same mistake again. I found that by making a mistake it was a lot easier to remember the correct method after being helped by my teacher. Simlarly promoting…

I think a tutor can most importantly help a student with the concepts that they are struggling with in school and also helping students learn concepts that their school hasn't gone through yet so that once they do, it'll be revision for them rather than learning it for the first time. This particularly helped me when I was doing my HSC.…

Tutor can be their second parents in monitoring them, student should feel as if they are feeling great to learn new things in easy way. Tutor should not give up in any situation in dealing with…

I believe that the most important thing that a tutor can do is to work with a student from a student's perspective. It is exactly the reason why group-studying is so effective as everyone is on the same wavelength. A tutor's job is to be able to "read" into the student's mind and solve-problems by comfortably adjusting and improvising…

Ultimately, a tutor must teach his/her student to be able to rely on themselves and think autonomously when problem solving i.e. not to be afraid of trial and error. I would say my strengths are attributes such as patience with the student (repetition when necessary), determination in getting the message across, and a friendly attitude towards all…

Be an attentive listener then explain the concept in the way your student will best understand it. Everything starts with guidance. Words are so powerful. So the main duty for a tutor is to give the key points to the student and make the student love the subject. I think it is important to be patient with your students. Some students are slower to learn than others, and others learn things in different ways compared to the rest. Inspiring the student to think logically and teaching the methods instead of simply showing solutions. Inside BlakehurstTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 5 student Blake worked on understanding circumference, radius, and diameter of circles as well as converting between units of measurement.

In Year 8, Sam tackled algebra by expanding and simplifying equations before starting to plot points and solve linear equations using step-by-step methods.

Meanwhile, Year 10 student Alex reviewed trigonometry concepts in preparation for an upcoming test and clarified key statistical terminology during the lesson.

Recent Challenges

Solving questions passively led a Year 8 student to frequent calculation errors in long division, especially when several steps were involved.

In a recent Year 10 session, one learner hesitated to write out their working in algebra because of nerves about making mistakes. This slowed progress and made it hard to spot where they went wrong.

A younger student (Year 5) often left homework incomplete and sometimes mixed up key vocabulary like 'radius' and 'diameter,' which then affected their confidence tackling new geometry problems. These habits led to missed connections and slower improvement between sessions.

Recent Achievements

One Blakehurst tutor recently noticed a Year 11 student who used to hesitate with exam-style algebra questions now tackling the trickier ones independently and even working through mistakes without frustration.

A Year 9 session saw a student who'd previously mixed up angle types not only recalling geometric terms but using a protractor correctly for the first time.

In primary, a Year 4 learner has started finishing homework before lessons—something she hadn't done until last month—and solved two-digit multiplication using the "smile" method all on her own during their latest session.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as South Hurstville—or at your child's school (with permission), like Mater Dei Catholic Primary School.
