It is very important as a tutor to understand your student. Be his silent friend and connect with him. Read his mental abilities, his interest, observe his qualities and disabilities, his way of learning things. And then try to impart the teaching depending on all these factors. Each student is different and so is the method of teaching. Teaching…
I think the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to open a rapport that makes them feel safe and understood, an environment where they are not afraid to try and even not afraid to fail, in the knowledge that with help and direction they can try again and do better. With the acceptance that 1 style (or even 10 styles!) of teaching…
I believe there are several things a tutor can deliver to her students, the primary of which is to instill a sense of confidence and can-do attitude among them. This means my role will not only limit to a tutor but also a mentor, guiding my students on multiple aspects of their academic path. As a seasoned tutor and teacher of English, I'd say my…

As mentioned above, to make a student feel comfortable is really important as it makes them more confident with the material not only in that subject but universally. I think that a tutor should not limit themselves to just subject knowledge. They should research more on effective teaching methods and strategies that might help them connect to their students more.

Always know what students need and what's their priority. This means a tutor need to show respect to students. Of course being able to teach and make the student understand the lesson. But understanding does not simply imply understanding just for the sake of passing the subject in the Uni, understanding the lesson means how the learning can be applied to practical experience or to day to day living. Tutoring seems to be going well. I think both Matthew and Abbey are starting to settle into a routine. Abbey has started to apply some of the methods Matthew has shown her to school work. She has come home from school a couple of times now, saying she was asked a question during maths time and got it right. Which, of course, she was very happy about! Within the next few weeks, I will receive Abbey's report for semester 1. I will show Matt, so he has even more understanding of her needs. I'm looking forward to seeing what they achieve in the coming months.
Georgia and myself are very happy with our tutor, Jess. They have a good rapport together and Georgia improved in confidence and Maths already.
Richard is a really lovely young man. He is very patient and good at explaining concepts. He is working really well with Annah and I think even in the 3 weeks we have had so far her understanding and confidence is growing.
