Being patient and guide them through how they should solve their problems instead of forcing only one way to them. Give them examples on how things should be with the aid of diagrams to picture the problem to them and make them think of the solution instead of blindly giving them answers. I am a persevered and patient person. I will be patient and…

I feel that the most important thing a tutor can do is to treat students with respect and be patient with them. This ensures that the student is comfortable in their environment and is more receptive to the tutors advice. I am friendly and extremely patient with any problems that students may come across. A tutor must help a student develop their knowledge of a subject whilst providing them with the tools to become an independent, inquiring learner so that they can eventually succeed independently. I believe the most important thing is for a tutor to help students ask the right questions in their learning journey, rather than just helping them find…

I think a tutor must be extremely understanding of a students concerns and queries regarding their work. Also, not only must a tutor be well versed in the content, they must also develop ways to explain these concepts to students who have a lack of understanding or no understanding at all, tailored to the needs of that particular individual. I am…

If a tutor can get the student to a place where they enjoy learning and are confident in their own abilities to achieve the results that they want to achieve then they've done their job. I am good at explaining concepts in a variety of ways that can be tailored to the student's learning needs so that if the way their current teacher explains…

The priorities in my perspective are both academic and enjoyment. In term of academic, tutor should be able to help students to understand different concepts, resolve problems or questions students may have. And in terms of enjoyment, tutor can try best to make the lesson enjoyable and engaging for the students which can be beneficial for their…

A tutor should always allow a student to figure out problem entirely by themselves. The worst thing to do is to solve everything for the student. A student should feel he/she is a smart logical human being, he/she just need a bit of guidance and assistance, however, no one undermines his/her abilities. I am patient and enthusiastic at the same…

It's often frustrating not to understand what is being taught in class and feeling behind. In addition to teaching and explaining the academic material, I believe a good tutor also provides encouragement to the students and potentially even evoke inspiration and genuine curiosity in that field. To boost confidence and motivation. I believe that you cannot force a student to learn, but you can guide them to do their best. If the student does not wish to learn, there is not much I can do to improve their grades. But, if the students are highly motivated and willing to learn, even if their grades are below average, they can rapidly improve…

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to improve their confidence and self-esteem. I find with many of my past students, they posses the skills to complete assignments but simply don't believe in themselves. Recieving poor or mediocre grades can crush a students morale leading to a bitterness towards a subect. This tends to be a…

Instil in a student a love of learning; teach them how to learn and how to manage their own education. It is relatively easy to study enough to get good marks in an exam, but having a positive attitude and active approach towards learning leads to much better information retention and better outcomes in the future, when the student is on their…

I think tutors have to have the appropriate amount of empathy to understand, not only the way they learn, but also their reason for learning. Best thing tutor can do is align his values with his student's. I think this is a way to frustrate and alienate him. I can approach a problem the way student does. This gives me an insight into where they…

We are very happy with our experience so far. It was simple to arrange and there was no problem finding a tutor available at the time we needed. We chose EzyMath tutoring as it was the only company that didn't send endless texts and emails to get us to sign up. The tutor arrived on time and kept my daughter engaged on maths the entire hour. Although she doesn't love maths (yet) the look of pride on her face after each session has been amazing.

Inside CoburgTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 3 student Ava practised addition and subtraction using a number line, and worked through NAPLAN-style word problems.

In Year 10, Jasmine focused on solving and rearranging algebraic equations as well as revising linear equations in preparation for her test.

Meanwhile, Year 11 student Emmanuel explored circular functions—graphing sine and cosine—and tackled trigonometric equations to prepare for his upcoming CAT assessment.

Recent Challenges

A Year 9 student became overwhelmed when facing unfamiliar algebra problems and tended to freeze rather than attempt different strategies, as noted: "He easily gets overwhelmed when faced with an unfamiliar problem."

In Year 11 calculus, skipping careful reading of questions led to repeated errors during CATs; one tutor observed he "needed to read the question more carefully."

Meanwhile, a primary student working on subtraction sometimes forgot to borrow but quickly improved once reminded.

For a Year 8 student, untidy written work in dividing polynomials meant errors went unnoticed until final checks.

These moments often left students frustrated or second-guessing themselves mid-task.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Coburg recently noticed Emmanuel, a Year 12 student, tackling complex numbers for the first time—a notoriously tricky topic—but he managed to grasp key ideas right away after struggling with similar advanced material last term.

Yvonne, also in high school, has shifted from relying on hints to independently placing angles and finding reference angles on the unit circle during calculus sessions.

Meanwhile, Jett in primary school explained multi-digit subtraction using an algorithm out loud—something he was hesitant to do before—and now confidently checks his own answers without prompting.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Campbell-Turnbull Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Islamic College of Sport.
