The most important things a tutor can do for a student is to be someone there to listen to them, someone there to guide them through their academic problems (not just the academics but the mindset as well) and someone who they feel is having a positive impact on their learning experience. Throughout high school, I would help many of my colleagues…

The most important things a tutor can do is to listen to the students. By listening to their problems, I shall modify my approach and pass the knowledge to them with another method. I am a patient tutor and would not be frustrated by students' question cause I was once a student that asked lots of questions. As I deal with numbers a lot, I am very…

I believe that tutors must be good analyzers if they want to succeed. I mean that they have to examine the way students study and practice and even think. After a good observation, they can provide students with the tools with which students can improve their weaknesses. This can be different form one student to another one. Besides, Encouraging…

To foster a good tutor-student relationship first. Having this as the first form of connection will help know the students character and personality (and vice versa) which then will help the tutor know the best way to teach. I believe this relationship is necessary for effective teaching. I learnt most and learnt best from the lecturers with whom…

Great understanding and knowledge of the subject is possibly the best thing a tutor can offer. Making them able to do their current assignment is just not ideal, they should then also be able to understand the core knowledge of the questions, so that when similar questions arrived they would be able to do it themselves, or even better, they might…

The most important thing a tutor can do is to make the learning process fun, because at the end of the day, if the student isn't enjoying what they are doing(whether it be succeeding or seeing improvement), they aren't going to remember anything. The learning process has to be a clear pathway, with no maybes, and a fun, enjoyable time. I believe…

I think the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is focus on that student, listen to what they want and then create a personalised lesson just for them. Inside ComoTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 5 student Daniel worked on mastering multiplication tables up to 12 and practiced reading and drawing times on analog clocks.

For Year 8, Jessica focused on solving equations algebraically—showing all steps clearly—and revised lowest common denominators in fractions.

Meanwhile, Year 9 student Liam tackled index laws through targeted practice questions and explored exponential functions, applying rules to different sequences.

Recent Challenges

A Year 10 student preparing for a test struggled with time management—she ran out of time to check answers in algebra, so small sign errors went unnoticed.

In Year 8 maths, messy working and unclear layout led to confusion during fraction calculations, making it harder to spot calculation slips or follow the method.

For a Year 3 learner, organization was an issue; forgetting their math notebook meant important notes weren't recorded, impacting revision later.

Meanwhile, a senior student focused mostly on easy textbook questions in Venn Diagrams and neglected the tougher ones, missing out on vital exam practice.

Recent Achievements

One Como tutor noticed a big shift in a Year 10 student's willingness to do homework; after weeks of leaving tasks unfinished, he arrived at his session with practice questions completed and specific areas ready for discussion.

A Year 11 student who previously hesitated to ask for help came prepared this week with her own list of questions about index laws and even requested harder examples on scientific notation.

In primary, one student who'd been mixing up hours and minutes on an analog clock finally explained the difference without prompting, then drew the correct time twice in a row during the lesson.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

Richard is a lovely young man. Very patient and caring in his delivery of his tutoring. He has made my daughter feel better about her ability to problem solve her mathematics.

Isabella likes the fact that Mina will give her Maths problems to work on to reinforce what she has learnt , rather than just explain concepts and move on. She feels that Mina makes sure that she UNDERSTANDS the concepts.

Chloe is fantastic. Jasmine enjoys the maths time in the way chloe has set it out. Jas has already made progress and chloe helps building her confidence. She is wonderful thank you so much.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as South Perth Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Collier Primary School.
