To be attentive and to address the students personal needs for growth. The tutor should set an ideal example in terms of behaviour motivation and actions- one which a student should be able to look up to but also resonate with. This allows him to engage with the student at a personal level and provide better more relatable academic support, but…

The most important things I can do for a student is to create a connection with them to be able to properly understand their methods of approach to solving mathematical problems. By understanding my students, I am then able to assist them in approaching each problem in a manner that is easy enough for them to understand and solve, helping them…

In my view, the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to help them develop a deep understanding of the subject matter. This means going beyond simply helping them complete assignments and prepare for exams, and instead working with them to build a foundation of knowledge and skills that they can apply to future challenges. A good…

The most important thing a tutor can do is to be open and offer an open exchange of exchange of information that allows a student to freely delve into a subject. I feel tutors better excel at this compared to teachers who's depth and exploration of a topic can be shallow due to the rigorous nature of the syllabus. My strengths would be gentle…

I think being a mentor is one of the most important thing a tutor can do. I believe that to be a good mentor, a tutor should be able to share their own experiences and make the student comfortable. Explain. If a tutor can explain a concept in a way a student can understand and then is able to remember it and be able to apply it, the tutor has succeeded in his role. Also being able to listen to students, as a tutor should be able to find small mistakes and correct them as questions require perfection to some degree to achieve maximum marks.…

A tutor must give confidence to the student that they can do well in a subject, regardless of their abilities. At the same time, a tutor must encourage the student to put in the work to succeed in the subject by instilling a love for the subject within student. Inside Dean ParkTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 4 student Ava practised subtracting four-digit numbers and reviewed strategies for tackling five-digit numbers.

In Year 8, Josh worked on algebra skills by solving equations involving fractions and identifying the point of intersection between lines.

Meanwhile, Year 11 student Sarah focused on advanced trigonometry, applying the sine rule to find unknown angles and using the cosine rule to calculate triangle side lengths in non-right-angled scenarios.

Recent Challenges

A Year 8 student often rushed through multi-step problems in fractions, leading to missed working and confusion when reviewing errors—one tutor noted, "his homework was quite challenging to read," as cramped layout made mistakes hard to spot.

In Year 10 algebra, a student hesitated to write out steps due to uncertainty, so sign errors slipped past unnoticed.

Another (Year 7) struggled to keep work organized; forgotten or misplaced homework meant time was lost searching for notes instead of practicing new material.

When a Year 11 attempted trigonometry questions, skipping calculator checks led to repeated angle mix-ups and incomplete answers.

Recent Achievements

One Dean Park tutor noticed a real shift with Nick, a high school student who previously needed frequent help on algebraic fractions—he simplified complex expressions and solved equations almost independently. James, another high schooler, had been hesitant about simultaneous equations but now confidently eliminates variables and substitutes to find solutions on his own.

Meanwhile, Aaron in primary has started tackling division algorithms without reminders; he now volunteers strategies for practical word problems and checks his answers before moving on.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Mt Druitt Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like William Dean Public School.
