Apart from teaching math itself my chief goal is to build students confidence in their skills so that they can be the best versions of themselves I would say my greatest strengths as a tutor is my communication skills coupled with my problem-solving skills. I have been told that I communicate ideas well and in a way that is easy to understand and…

The most important things include teaching the content being taught in class in an efficient and effective manner, and also giving them extra information about a specific concept if it helps with their understanding. Another important thing is to not only be a tutor for the student, but rather a mentor who can guide them through school life.…

I don't hope to replace the school teachers completely. However 1 to 1 and smaller group engagements would help put in a more personal touch that would minimize the weakness of the student, bring the best out of them and build character (patience, resilience, analytical thinking) to supplement them to succeed in their education journey Analytical…

I believe one of the most important things a tutor can do for a student is serve as a secondary teacher/mentor to a school teacher. As school teachers have to focus on a large class (usually around 30 students), they are unable to address the needs of each student. As each student has their own struggles and needs, an exterior tutor provides…

The students already have teachers at school. Rather than being just another teacher figure, a tutor is also a mentor that travels on a journey alongside the student. As such, the most important things they can do for the child is to be compassionate, patient, and support the child with the goals they want to achieve. I am patient, I take the time…

Far too often students fall into the trap of memorisation. They lack the conceptual understanding, thus when given a question that does not perfectly coincide with their rules, they panic. I strongly believe that as a tutor, my goal is to motivate students to really grasp concepts and truly appreciate the ‘how’ and ‘why’ of a rule or…

I think the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is listen to what they are asking, and targeting their weak areas within the prospective subject. Inside Edensor ParkTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 8 student Arvin worked through Pythagoras' Theorem and applied it to real-world problems, then calculated surface area and volume of rectangular prisms.

In Year 9, Sam focused on factorising quadratic equations and graphing parabolas, including identifying intercepts and turning points.

Meanwhile, Year 10 student Emily practised solving compound interest questions in financial maths and explored how depreciation affects value over time.

Recent Challenges

In Year 8, one student hesitated to start solving questions and waited for reassurance, which slowed progress—"He takes too long to take the first step, to start."

During a Year 10 lesson on surface area and volume, another student gave only one-word answers and rarely asked clarifying questions; this reluctance limited his understanding of unit differences.

A Year 11 student repeatedly paused during trigonometry problems, overthinking instead of writing down her process, causing exam stress.

In Year 9 algebra, skipping verbal explanations meant mistakes went unnoticed until feedback arrived later. Moments like these left students unsure if they'd truly grasped the skill.

Recent Achievements

One Edensor Park tutor noticed a Year 10 student who used to hesitate asking questions now readily speaks up whenever he's unsure, which means he's finally engaging instead of guessing through his maths.

In a senior session, a Year 12 girl showed new independence by working through tough calculus problems on her own and even explaining her steps out loud—something she never attempted before.

Meanwhile, in Year 7, a boy who'd always rushed assignments surprised his tutor by taking time to check each answer for careless errors before finishing the worksheet.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

We are very impressed with Abitha & her approach in tutoring Capri. Already Capri is showing signs of more confidence & less anxiety with her maths.

I'd like to highly recommend Dwight to any other families. His kind and patient demeanor translate into a great tutor. He's been very helpful. My daughter just got her results from her Algebra test which Dwight had to catch her up on as that's one of the topics she missed. She got 93%. Great result and proof of Dwights great tutoring.

Joshua feels comfortable with Linh so far, which is fantastic. His teaching skills are impressive! Very happy so far...
