Online Tutor Graceville, QLD
As mentioned previously, a tutor must provide a friendly and proactive environment for which all students can interact with entirely. A student should view their tutor as a friend and have no hesitation to ask any question. Importantly, a tutor should strive to improve a students ability to not only do the work needed but also comprehend the…

A tutor should set a good example for the student by punctual, respectful and approachable. A tutor should help the student set clear goals and monitor their progress. Above all, a tutor needs to believe in the student's capacity for growth, self-discipline and excellence. I think that I am very structured. I try my best to relate to students and…

Inside Fortitude ValleyTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 8 student Adam worked on solving algebraic expressions with fractions and reviewed angle properties of parallel lines, as well as calculating the volume and surface area of cylinders and prisms.

In Year 10, Laila focused on understanding thermal conductivity and heat transfer types for a physics assignment, along with practicing natural logarithm graphs.

Meanwhile, Year 6 student Priscilla concentrated on designing a scale model of her school oval for maths, applying measurement concepts like scales, plans, and data collection to her project.

Recent Challenges

A Year 9 student left her school textbook at home and struggled to visualize angles in complex polygons, which slowed her problem-solving during geometry tasks.

In Year 11 Physics, unclear assignment instructions led to confusion—"the requirements for the physics assignment were too vague to understand," a tutor noted—which resulted in missed criteria and incomplete research before writing.

A Year 6 learner repeatedly forgot both homework and key materials, such as notebooks and flashcards, making it hard to review prior content or track progress.

Each of these scenarios meant valuable lesson time was spent retracing steps instead of advancing skills or building confidence.

Recent Achievements

A Fortitude Valley tutoring session saw one Year 11 student finally break through on worded bearing questions—last time, she struggled to set them up, but this week she worked through several independently and even tackled a tricky exam-style problem.

Another high schooler had previously rushed her assignments, but now she's pausing to ask clarifying questions aloud before starting and carefully checking each step; this shift has meant fewer errors in her homework.

Meanwhile, a Year 4 student who used to count slowly is now confidently using the "stairs method" for addition, finishing sums much more quickly than before.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

We started yesterday and Dylan and Erin both seemed happy and got along quite nicely.

Boris is great, Amy has relaxed a bit since the first night. She seems to be going well, and she was very happy with herself as last night they covered year 8 maths which made her feel clever!

I have found your entire service from the first contact professional and friendly and will recommend both your organisation and Andrew to anyone who requires a maths tutor. . As I said earlier, I found Andrew both  diligant and effective in the few sessions we were able to fit in. Jesse's main comment was that 'He makes everything so easy to understand' which is really what tutoring is about.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Brisbane Square Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Angelorum College.
