If a tutor or a teacher is not able to make his/her student involved and self motivated to study then the whole effort as well as time of both teacher and student go waiste. The most important thing for a tutor is to never underestimate a student, and to be there for them as a support and to show them that they can. If a student loses self esteem and think that they can't do it...they wont. It's all about giving them a healthy mindset which allows them to gain the knowledge given. My biggest strength i believe is how…
As stated, one of the most important things a tutor can do for their student is to allow the student to enjoy what they're doing. Making sure that the student is comfortable and not to push them so soon into the problems and questions - ease them into the subject. If they are already "good" at the subject, then it comes down to being there to cultivate their skill with them. Ensuring the students understand first, then applying the fundamentals. I am a big advocate for…

In primary, tutoring often targets core arithmetic—addition, subtraction, times tables, fractions, and building number sense—while also pushing for deeper comprehension, not just rote rules. High school sessions shift to algebraic thinking, graphing, interpreting questions, and developing strong exam strategies. There’s a big emphasis on breaking down word problems, revisiting tricky homework, and test prep for NAPLAN or semester exams, always tailored to what each student finds hardest right now.
Recent Challenges
Some primary students rush through comprehension or maths tasks without fully reading instructions, leading to incomplete or off-target answers. In high school, it’s common for students to have scattered or unclear working, which makes multi-step problems harder to check and fix. Other frequent hurdles include forgetting materials, leaving homework unfinished, or spending revision time catching up on missed basics instead of moving forward—all of which can hold back progress and lead to confusion.
Recent Achievements
Tutors are noticing students becoming more proactive during lessons—regularly checking their own work, spotting errors, and making corrections without being asked. There’s a clear shift toward students verbalising their steps in maths and explaining their reasoning aloud, rather than rushing through problems. Tutors also report that learners are reviewing their test results with more care and taking the initiative to improve, showing greater confidence and ownership of their progress.
What they say about our tutoring
Things are going very well at the moment. Much of the use Max is getting out of it is that there is time to ask questions and have detailed explanation of concepts. This is what he felt he was denied in class and was causing some degree of anxiety on his part. Brigit appears to be a good tutor for him as it is always important that he likes the person he is dealing with especially when it is in a subject area which isn't the main focus of his primary interest or ability.
After spending two years as a tutor with Ezy Math Tutoring I can only report positive experiences with the agency. Ezy Math was always professional, timely and willing to help with any queries or problems. Working with such a personalized and helpful company only enriched the already fulfilling experience of being a tutor. I would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Ezy Math Tutoring to any prospective tutors or students.
I am very happy with Fiona, and though we are only in the early stages of tutoring, Alyssa has made significant improvements in her attitude and confidence. Initially she was dreading tutoring, now she has embraced it. Fiona has been extremely flexible and has impressed with her professionalism and knowledge from day one. We look forward to continued success under her tuition.
