I think that the most important part of being a tutor is not only teaching a student on how to excel at the particular subject, but teach them to develop certain study habits and techniques that they will then be able to utilize and apply to different subjects as well. Therefore building a foundation of study skills which they can then apply…

To ensure the student receives the necessary attention, time and guidance to achieve their potential, e.g if one program doesn't work, being able to quickly adapt to a different approach to meet the children requirements and potential should be considered quickly and implemented time effectively Attention to detail, developing strong/committing…

I think a tutor should not only serve as a teacher of sorts, but also a mentor. It's important that a student can look up to their tutor to give them the drive and confidence to continue learning since they have a role model who supported them in their learning and accomplishments. Tutors should also give students the tools needed to not only…

To help students understand the basic concepts in whatever they have to study and help them develop a deeper, more relatable understanding. It is also important for me as a tutor to serve as a good role model for students. I try to make concepts easier for students to understand. Particularly, i strive for understanding rather than memorization…

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to not spoon-feed the student. School is about learning to tackle challenges and problems, not necessarily about just passing or just scoring good grades. As a tutor, you are there to ensure you equip the student with the right tools and show them how to use those tools. I believe my…

The most important part of tutoring in my opinion is being able to adapt to different students requirements, and noticing what each student needs most from you. Some students need someone to slowly work through problems and teach them the process, while others need someone to help enforce good habits and routines rather than purely just teaching,…

Students spend a major part of a day in school. Many children are unable to get the most of it due to time-constraints and lack of individual attention in a class. However, there are a few students who maintain attention and focus in a classroom environment. Reason is they are more prepared than the rest. If a child follows what is happening in…

Other than endeavor to increase the student's performance and confidence in the subject. I believe a tutor must be able to generate interest in the subject so that the student is motivated to study and their performance consistently improves and is sustained. Inside GnangaraTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 12 student Bao focused on congruence and trigonometry, including applying rules for triangles and solving angle problems using diagrams.

In Year 11, Sadie worked through basic transformations of polynomial functions and reviewed acids and combustion reactions in chemistry by completing targeted textbook exercises.

Meanwhile, Year 8 student Lily practiced adding fractions with different denominators and strengthened her understanding of common factors to improve her fraction work.

Recent Challenges

A Year 11 student working on calculus repeatedly struggled to start questions, especially when derivatives linked displacement, velocity, and acceleration. She still struggles to read the questions thoroughly and this is stopping her from completing the question.

In a Year 9 algebra session, over-reliance on formula sheets meant steps were skipped before understanding why formulas worked; careless errors crept in as a result.

Meanwhile, one Year 5 learner hesitated with fractions and division due to intimidation by complex numerators and denominators—leading to avoidance instead of engagement.

Missed homework in senior chemistry also meant less practice applying new concepts during lessons.

Recent Achievements

One Gnangara tutor noticed a Year 10 student who, after struggling with simultaneous equations, is now able to solve simpler problems independently and even attempts more challenging ones without prompting.

In a recent high school chemistry session, a Year 11 student who previously found calculations confusing was able to identify and correct her own mistakes on a past test as soon as the reasoning was re-explained—something she'd hesitated to do before.

Meanwhile, during a primary session, Bao has started slowing down his basic addition work to check for errors rather than rushing through and missing details.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

We are very Happy with Pareise. Zoe looks forward to her lessons with her. Pareise is always on time and speaks o Zoe in a well-mannered and appropriate way.

Both Nicholas and Natasha are very happy with Mitchell and lessons are progressing beautifully.

El Abed has been in touch with me directly and we have booked a session for next week. I would just like to say once again how impressed I am with your level of customer service and the efficiency with which you have handled my queries. Im addition, I would like to say the say the same about El Abed. He has responded to my queries promptly and with professionalism.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Wanneroo Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Landsdale Primary School.
