Like I mentioned above, I think one of the most important things a tutor can do is give a student confidence in their abilities. I believe that when a student begins to believe in them self, progress in their academic ability grows rapidly I believe my patience is my biggest strength. I know that each individual works at a different pace and has a…

A tutor shoud be able to determine the relative strengths and weaknesses of the student and proceed to generate real results for the student. This helps the student develop confidence and progression. MY strengths are patience, persistence and extensive experience in tutoring. To me the most important thing a tutor can teach a student is to be confident while applying new knowledge. I am a strong believer that tutors should not only be teachers of knowledge but be mentors to the their students. From my past experience the students I taught, although, picked up new knowledge easily but got scared under pressure. It has…

To listen to the students' needs. Once you understand someone's problem, working with them to fix it is a lot easier, and this applies to education as well. Understanding leads to being able to provide a personalized learning experience for the student, ensuring they are more successful. Being approachable and accommodating are two of my biggest…

The most important things a tutor can do for a student is to make him/her fall in love with the subject. They can make the students not only understand the subject but also like it. Likewise, after tutoring students must be to able understand the issue and able to solve problems. I have good communication skills and i have clarity about the…

I believe that a tutor should be prepared to adapt to their students learning style to maximise their understanding. They must also always be up to date with changes in the syllabus and be able to explain the demands of the course. As a recent new HSC graduate, I have substantial experience with the new Advanced English and General Mathematics…

I can enable students to develop the ability to be confident in themselves and their skills as wekk as be a role model and guiding figure. I like to keep things simple and easy to understand as that's how I learnt course content in high school. Economics Tutor Rhodes, NSW
The most important thing tutor a tutor can do is to teach students to solve problems independently. The tutor should teach not only how steps to complete the problems but also the logic behind the problems. Thus, students could solve similar or harder questions on their own the next time. One of my strengths is that I know how to adjust the…

Teach obviously! but i think if the tutor can make the lessons as fun as possible so that the student looks forward to them as something enjoyable rather than as purely work, the best results will occur. I am an excellent communicator and can teach via example quite effectively in almost any subject. I am easily able to match my communication…

I believe that a tutor should make learning engaging and interesting so that the student is able to learn the content as easily and stress free as possible. Tutors should also accelerate students learning to give them an advantage at school I am very understanding of things that could be difficult for a student to grasp. I am also patient and able…

Inside GreenacreTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 4 student Sarah practised time conversions and explored different multiplication and division methods using visual aids.

Year 9 student Sam focused on solving algebraic equations by expanding brackets and also worked through formulas, including changing the subject of a formula.

Meanwhile, Year 10 student Michael tackled probability questions with an emphasis on conditional probability and received support with related homework tasks.

Recent Challenges

In Year 9, a student struggled with interpreting division questions and often forgot key steps, leading to confusion during reciprocal tasks. As one tutor noted, "he needed more direction and was very slow in his problem solving."

By Year 11, forgetting important algebraic formulas and prior content made it difficult to approach new problems confidently—sometimes even basic equations slipped away mid-task.

Motivation flagged during lengthy exercise sessions, especially when progress felt slow or mistakes piled up.

In another session, missing out on half the planned content due to time management left unfinished work and mounting frustration as deadlines approached.

Recent Achievements

A Greenacre tutor noted a Year 11 student has become much less reliant on prompts, now working through tricky equations independently and even stopping the lesson to clarify steps when unsure—something he never did before.

In a recent session with a Year 8 student, the tutor observed that she completed her homework ahead of time for the first time this term and could quickly explain how square roots work without needing reminders.

Meanwhile, a Year 4 learner who used to hesitate with new maths topics now confidently answers perimeter questions unaided, finishing all practice problems by himself.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Greenacre Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like St John Vianney Catholic Primary School.
