Knowing something is a whole story, but teaching what I know is a completely different level. The most important thing is that tutors are able to summarise while teaching and ensure the repetition in each lesson. Also, maintaining a healthy relationship with students is significant for both parents' care and students' comfortable learning…

A tutor can guide a student to succeed. Not only in studies, but life in general. If tutors can make students aware of certain things which changes how they operate and that is the greatest thing a tutor can do. I am very patient and understanding. As a high school leaver, I consider providing support and trust as well as accurate academic knowledge to be the most important thing that a tutor can do for a student. Students do have teachers at school, therefore, the job of a tutor is to revise and trigger the knowledge of students, letting them realise their potential. I have physical and…

By letting a student explain the topic in their own words, I can diagnose the issue and perhaps offer a new perspective on how I…

Most important would definitely be effort towards a student. No student would want a tutor who does not have the best interest in them and would definitely not want a tutor who is giving 50% of their efforts. Another important thing a tutor can do for a student is show passion and that they care, and that they are someone the students can…

The most important thing that a tutor can do for a student is dedicate as much time and effort needed for the student to fully understand the topic. Especially with math based subjects, if the student doesn't fully understand one topic, it is possible that the student can't understand harder concepts. -Explaining complex concepts in the most…

Giving motivation, goals and direction. I always loved tutors who could give me a purpose to life on top of knowledge of school content. Be honest. It is very important for a tutor to be honest in their responses. Secondly, the language the teacher uses has great impact on the students. Therefore, the language should always be clear and clean. My strength as a tutor is that I can impart the concept in a very understandable manner using different aides (visual etc.). I make sure…

Tutoring with Ezymaths was so simple to organise. The team took the time to ask questions and get a real understanding of my sons needs and where we wanted to get him. Our tutor ,Sai, is absolutely lovely I cannot recommend her highly enough. My sons confidence and ability has improved dramatically.

Inside GuildfordTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 5 student Huda worked on equivalent fractions and simplifying them, using number lines to compare and order values.

Year 7 student Amina focused on converting between fractions, decimals, and percentages, as well as solving problems involving decimal addition.

Meanwhile, Year 8 student Daniel practiced interpreting data in graphs by identifying mean and mode, alongside revising probability concepts such as independent and dependent events.

Recent Challenges

A Year 8 student found it difficult to communicate confusion during problem-solving, often copying previous solutions rather than expressing uncertainty—"he needs to tell me when he does not understand," a tutor noted.

In senior years, one student's tendency to avoid double-checking answers and rely on teacher cues led to repeated errors in Methods assessments, especially under time pressure.

Homework completion was inconsistent for a Year 10 student; missing tasks meant knowledge gaps lingered into following lessons.

Meanwhile, a primary student's focus drifted easily when subtraction involved double-digit numbers, resulting in unfinished work and missed feedback opportunities before moving on.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Guildford noticed a Year 9 student, Younas, who used to hesitate when confused now speaks up about difficulties, letting them tackle tricky maths topics together—he even completed his homework independently and could explain where he made errors.

In a recent session with Andrew (Year 6), the tutor saw him persist through frustration during a challenging division activity; rather than giving up, he worked through mistakes on his own and explained his reasoning out loud.

Meanwhile, a younger student has started using their finger as a guide while reading, which helped them move through texts more smoothly without losing their place.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Guildford Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Guildford Public School.
