Be empathetic as well as listen slowly and carefully to the reason people are having one or a few issues. Then repeat the issues back to them so they know where the hiccup lies. Allow the person to reach the solution themselves will mean they understand the topic in depth and now have the empowerment to tackle the next issue with more…

I believe that the most important thing a tutor can provide for a student is a safe and supporting space, where they can feel free to ask questions and feel that they are learning. Students must feel comfortable to better their learning around their tutor. Furthermore, tutors should provide their students with motivation and inspiration. I am a…

The most valuable asset I have as a tutor is my belief that every student can succeed. Each student should come in knowing that there is someone who believes they can achieve more if they have the right motivation. Teachers have a large impact on shaping students mindset, and wellbeing, which I take to heart for all my students. As a pre-service…

The most important thing that a tutor can do is to understand their students and modify their teaching according to their learning capacity. A tutor doesn't need to use fancy language - what matters is that they are able to educate their students - the basic concepts in the most simple way, so that they are able to connect it with their life and…

I believe the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to teach them that learning can be enjoyable, and not just a task. I think having a good personality is the most important thing as a tutor. This is because an educator is supposed to be patient, calm and helpful in front of his/her students. If he/she can't do that, he/she will always be in arguments with the students and thus mutual trusts between them will be lost. I think I have a good academic backgrounds…

To inspire a student to be curious and develop a love of learning, as people are not often motivated to improve in areas in which they lack passion. I think the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to provide them with the tools to be able to confidently work through academic problems on their own. In an English context this can mean teaching a student how to deconstruct what is required by a question, or giving them the skills to analyse a text for thematic and technical…

Tutors can support other educators to help students learn how to learn. 1-on-1 support can help shed light on the exact nature of any obstacles a student might experience, which might be missed in a group classroom setting. Leading students patiently through the learning process helps instil confidence. I've received multiple feedback from…

Local Reviews

My son can't wait to have his maths lessons with his tutor every week! She is helping him learn through wonderful and fun ways!
Konstantina, Preston

Inside Heidelberg WestTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 7 student Olivia focused on factorising algebraic expressions and substitution in more complex equations to build confidence with foundational algebra skills.

In Year 9, Jacob practised graphing parabolas as well as substituting values into quadratic functions, using worked examples for clarity.

For Year 10, Sam concentrated on solving linear equations and revisited core trigonometric ratios—sine, cosine, and tangent to prepare for upcoming assessments.

Recent Challenges

A Year 8 student often forgot to bring her maths textbook, which meant gaps in reviewing problem areas and "she needed to bring her maths books so I could see what she had struggled with this week."

In a senior class, one student ran out of time during an exam; as the tutor put it, "he missed some simple errors" because he didn't check answers before submitting.

Meanwhile, a Year 10 student's algebra work was messy and hard to follow—incorrect values crept in when calculations weren't clearly laid out.

Distraction in English led another student to guess answers without reading passages closely.

Recent Achievements

One Heidelberg West tutor noticed Kiera now tackles more complex maths problems without hesitation—just weeks ago she'd often wait for reassurance before starting.

In Year 8, Ollie moved from making frequent mistakes in timed tests to using a standard formula they developed together for negative indices, helping him answer these questions independently and with fewer errors.

Meanwhile, Felix in primary school has shifted from being distracted during class to focusing well enough to score 8/8 on his fractions test after struggling with this topic earlier; he completed all the questions accurately on his own.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

We chose EzyMath Tutoring as that is the subject our daughter  most needed help with, and we decided to pick specialists in this subject over other tutors who seemed to do everything.  Our tutor Emma, was a uni student, very professional, friendly, she worked very well with our daughter.  Emma had lots of great tricks and tips for Madison to use in her studying and test-taking, broke some things down so they didn't seem so scary or overwhelming to our daughter.  Madison was much more confident in math class, homework was easier, she was more confident in taking exams.  It meant a lot to Madison and us, a lot less stress at home when it wasn't my husband or I trying to teach her with all the emotions that tend to go along with that.  I would recommend EzyMath tutoring to anyone looking to improve their math skills.

Thanks for the follow up.  Yes I am very happy with Sean, he has worked with Machlin through some difficult times and nothing has been a problem for Sean.

Thanks for asking So far so good Michael is great. Kane seems to be quite happy

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Ivanhoe Library & Cultural Hub—or at your child's school (with permission), like St Pius X School.
