A tutor is someone who just not explains what is right or wrong or not or just gives the answer directly, but instead makes sure that the student, one is teaching has understood the concept extremely well and can relate to his or her own work and can work perfectly without the tutor's help. Also, the tutor should be aware how the student works…

The important thing that a tutor can give a student is time and attention which he might not get in classroom of students. As a tutor the most we can do for is a student is to encourage them to not just learn what's in the book but also to understand the concepts with a greater depth. The other thing that tutor can do for a student to maximise their educational growth is to try and make them understand the points where they are wrong and not just to do their work for…

The most important things a tutor can do is to tailor their lessons to suit their individual students as every student learns differently and has different learning needs. Inside Ingle FarmTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 7 Emily focused on simplifying ratios and dividing mixed numbers, using practical examples to build understanding.

Year 8 Marley worked through converting decimals to percentages and revisited multiplication basics for fluency.

For Year 7 Lilah, sessions included reading both analogue and 24-hour time as well as practicing addition and multiplication with large numbers to support her school topics.

Recent Challenges

A Year 8 student often missed the final step when converting improper fractions to mixed numbers, occasionally swapping digits or skipping over key steps—she needs to go through some steps again so that there are no small mistakes such as numbers being swapped around.

In a separate Year 5 session, a student hesitated to start worded problems independently and required repeated encouragement before attempting solutions.

For both, this meant less time spent building independence and confidence, as attention was diverted from consolidating new concepts toward double-checking basic processes and waiting for prompts.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Ingle Farm noticed a big change with Duaa, who used to rush through reading without understanding the story—now she pauses to explain what happened on each page and asks questions about new words.

Meanwhile, Emily (Year 7) had been mixing up steps when dividing fractions but last week worked through mixed number division almost independently, only needing reminders for one step.

Another win came from Marley (Year 11), who at first was hesitant in their initial lesson but quickly built strong rapport with the tutor and engaged fully throughout the session.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Ingle Farm Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Ingle Farm Primary School.
