Christopher has been absolutely amazing! My daughter thinks he is great, so that makes sitting down to do Math for an hour an easy sell. His gentle demeanour and softly spoken voice is just what my daughter needs. He is a delight.

Inside JolimontTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 7 student Jimmy focused on building confidence while tackling activities to assess maths skills and identify any learning gaps, including revision of factors and subtraction with zeros.

For Year 9, Ava worked through trigonometry basics using practice questions and also reviewed essay structure and language features in poetry analysis.

Meanwhile, Year 10 student Lily prepared for an upcoming maths test by learning to draw and analyse piecewise functions as well as reviewing simultaneous equations and pinpointing areas for exam improvement.

Recent Challenges

Repeatedly did not complete homework, and when tired, needed concepts explained multiple times; "needs to learn how to take proper notes" was a key observation for this Year 8 student.

In Year 11 Chemistry, reliance on looking up formulas slowed progress—there's a pattern of needing more independent recall when faced with new types of questions.

For a Year 5 learner, missed homework meant less time spent on consolidating fraction operations, leaving gaps in later lessons.

In English (Year 10), anxiety about writing ideas clearly led to hesitation putting thoughts onto paper and weaker quote analysis during essays.

Recent Achievements

One Jolimont tutor saw a Year 11 student finally crack trigonometry questions that had stumped her for weeks—she confidently used the "write the rule, substitute and solve" method without prompting.

In a separate high school English session, another student who used to rush through analysis now took time to select quotes thoughtfully and wrote a strong opening for her speech using language devices more effectively.

Meanwhile, in Year 5 maths, Jimmy—who'd previously struggled with borrowing when subtracting from zero—was able to apply the strategy smoothly and completed several problems correctly on his own.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

I would like to thank you and your team for all the help with preparing Marissa for her Math exam. Gabriella was a wonderful help,  I do nightly recommend her. Thank you for the time spent with her

Tutoring has gotten off to a great start thankyou. Adrian is always on time and his professional & friendly manner has encouraged Erin to have a positive response to being tutored ( she was not keen initially) Erin is enjoying her session with Adrian and I can see her willingness to work with him will increase her confidence in maths in general.

We are very happy with Rachel. Natasha feels very comfortable with Rachel and they get along well. Natasha feels more confident about maths now and almost excited to do her maths test at school tomorrow. Rachel has applied learning techniques that work best for Natasha and she is very patient. Rachel is also a lovely girl and has a warm personality. We are very thankful to have her tutoring Natasha.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Subiaco Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Jolimont Primary School.
