Being able to listen to what the student thinks and needs is the best way to understand the situation and therefore opt for the best path to follow. I tend to be patient and understanding of different people needs so that tutoring is not only delivering information in a one sided way, but more of a cooperative…

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to be loving. Actually caring for the student's academic success will not only make them more likely to succeed, but it will help them go beyond to reaching a scholarly level. My two leading strengths are that I know how to teach to make difficult subjects more easy to understand and I am…

The most important things a tutor can do for a student is to build confidence and self-esteem. Often, people feel discouraged or left out when unable to keep up with their class. They become withdrawn and tend not to believe in their capabilities. By teaching a student challenging topics, I am simultaneously quelling all notions of…

Tutors must be able to listen to their student's learning needs in order to be able to fully recognise what they must do to help their students with their learning. What i believe that a tutor can provide is confidence, guidance and wisdom towards understanding new concepts, but not neglecting the importance of patience whilst teaching students to understand whether in a simplified or intricate way. Also, a crucial aspect reflected in a student's passion towards learning is reflected in the tutors enthusiasm…

The most important thing a tutor can do is to enable a student with essential skills, both related to subject taught, as well as life skills. In this way, the student can go on to become an independent learner. My strengths are in being able to put myself in the child's shoes and explain the way he/she wants it. My weakness is that I often give…

The most important things a tutor can do for a student is act as a motivation for them to achieve their personal best. Although raising marks is the main objective for tutors, they must be able to interact with the students and find their weak points and there is a limit to what they can teach. They must act as a pillar that can support their…

Tutors have to be cooperative and empathetic to teach students. Moreover, they need to embody leadership qualities. The most important things a tutor can do for a student, in my opinion, are not only concrete plans and a sufficient level of knowledge, but also empathy to understand what the student needs and their natural ability. A tutor, in my opinion, is not someone who places a high level of math practise in the hands of an art student who dislikes math. A…

A tutor can clearly identify the strengths and weaknesses of students and guide them accordingly. He should focus on the strengths and minimise their weaknesses. This is very important as it gives a clear direction to the students. This can also help them realise what career path would be good for them. A tutor should also be able to help students…

A tutor has the opportunity to shape a students' mind, in more ways than one. First and foremost, helping them score well for the examinations they are going to sit for. For me, the most important thing a tutor can do is help the student feel more confident — not just with the subject, but in themselves. I think we sometimes forget how big of a difference it makes when someone believes they can actually do it. Inside KyeemaghTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 7 Sasha focused on algebra questions and consolidating her understanding of positive and negative integers through targeted practice.

Year 9 sessions with Liam addressed trigonometric ratios, including basic applications of sine, cosine, and tangent, as well as graphing these functions.

For Year 11 student Emily, recent lessons explored quadratic equations—covering both factorising techniques and use of the quadratic formula—plus applied skills to real-world problem scenarios.

Recent Challenges

In Year 11 Mathematics, a student did not attend the scheduled online lesson despite reminders; as noted, "sent her texts and emails before the class, which she has not replied." This gap disrupts progress on planned tutorials.

Meanwhile, in Year 9 Algebra, incomplete homework was an issue: "must take his homework seriously, otherwise he will suffer the consequences of poor results."

A Year 8 student erased working out repeatedly rather than showing full steps—"erases work with an eraser instead of keeping working out"—making it harder to pinpoint misunderstandings during problem-solving.

Missed feedback and hidden errors slow improvement in both cases.

Recent Achievements

One Kyeemagh tutoring session saw a Year 10 student independently catch a calculation error before the tutor did, showing real engagement rather than just following along—he used to be more passive with problem-solving.

In another high school example, a student who had previously skipped writing down her maths working now consistently records every step and talks through her reasoning out loud.

Meanwhile, a Year 4 learner tackled mixed numerals for the first time and was eager to attempt challenging questions on her own, asking for extra practice worksheets without prompting.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Brighton-Le-Sands Branch Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Kyeemagh Public School.
