I think a tutor can give a student confidence, that a student doesn't need to be intimidated by a STEM class. The general attitude that these subject are 'too hard' or that a student 'will never use these skills again' sets up bright students for failure before they even set foot in a classroom. The most important thing a tutor can do is boost a…

One of the most important things I believe a tutor can do is to make their student confident in themselves. I don’t think simply teaching the material in a subject is enough - it is the tutor's job to make sure the student really understands what they are learning, and to make sure the student not only thrives academically but becomes more…

According to me, the most important thing that a tutor can do for a student is wake up their curiosity. Getting good grades are important, but equally important is to make sure that the student is enjoying and understanding the subject being taught. As this helps make the student pursue the subjects further. These are the future of the humanity,…

I think the most important things I could do for a student is to listen. I really believe that listening to the student will allow me to really get a feel on where they are getting stuck or why they aren't understanding what it is asking from them. My strengths as a tutor I would say is definitely my approach to a question/topic and also my…

I believe that patience and consideration are the most important things, as it can take very different amounts of time for people to understand concepts that I may have learnt at a faster pace, or that another student learnt faster. Flexibility is also important as everybody learns in a unique way, and what may help one person completely…

Be a calming presence. Learning something is difficult, and there is enough pressure and competition at school already. Educators play an important role in how students minds are shaped and how they approach problems in their studies. Believing in students that they can achieve their goal is one of the most important aspects of teaching them so it encourages them to strive towards their goal rather than realise they aren't capable enough. Watching them set out a…

Being able to explain concepts well to a student is arguably the most important thing. First of all, seeing improvement in the grades is one of the important aspect. Although it is important, I would also want the student to feel safe to ask me any questions to allow them further understanding in the contents they are working on. A tutor should set a good example for the student by punctual, respectful and approachable. A tutor should help the student set clear goals and monitor their progress. Inside NathanTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 6 student Jake focused on narrative structure in English and worked through maths revision including multiplication and division.

For Year 9, recent sessions with Dao covered converting units of measurement and practicing number patterns using hands-on examples.

In Year 11, Brandon concentrated on preparing for his IA1 Economics exam by reviewing syllabus dot points and practicing extended response questions aligned to QCAA standards.

Recent Challenges

In Year 9 Maths, one student struggled to complete assigned homework, with a tutor noting, "He didn't finish the homework I gave," which limited class progress and confidence during new algebra topics.

In Year 11 Economics, another found it hard to structure answers independently; despite guidance, he needed frequent reminders to plan responses clearly under test conditions.

For a Year 6 English task, a student doubted their ability so much they asked for help even when unnecessary—this self-doubt slowed independent writing and made exam preparation stressful.

Gaps in basic skills often led to frustration or avoidance instead of steady practice.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Nathan recently saw a Year 10 student, Brandon, make a noticeable shift: after struggling to organise his economics assignments, he now structures his answers much more clearly and is analysing both texts with real independence.

In Year 7 English, Jake—who used to hesitate with paragraph writing—now writes PESTO paragraphs fluently and can plan out narrative drafts without needing prompting.

Meanwhile, Dao in primary school has begun slowing down on multiplication tasks to reduce mistakes, showing greater care and self-correction than before; last week, he finished an entire worksheet with only one minor error.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you and Mohammed once again for everything. The standard of tutoring was outstanding and most of all Elise gained from it proving so with her results. Mohammed was a pleasure to have in our home being the polite gentleman he is. Such a credit to you and your company. I would have no hesitation in recommending Ezy Math Tutoring to anyone.

Thought I would drop you an email to let you know Aaron took his first lesson with the boys last night and everything seemed to go very well.  Brook and Lewis both commented on how the learning methods given were helpful and will hopefully put these in place. Thank you and hopefully this will be a turning point in the boys attitude towards this subject.

Mo was a fantastic tutor for my son,Joe.  She was patient and adjusted her her teaching pace according to Joe's needs in the various areas that needed work.  Mo explained everything carefully and made sure Joe fully understood everything without making him feel uncomfortable. Joe and I are so grateful for her help and I will be sure to call on her again if the need arises.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Coopers Plains Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Yarranlea Primary School.
