One of the most important things a tutor can do for a student is guide that student to success, this can be achieved by listening and being attentive to the childs learning styles and needs. Patience and understanding. I believe that patience is one of the most important qualities to have as a tutor, this is because it can be very frustrating as a…

To understand how the child learns, and what they respond to best. As a teacher in a classroom may not be giving them the attention or understanding they require. I believe communication is my strongest strength, as my ability to communicate ideas and encourage children to do the same is corner stone to successful…

The most important thing a tutor can do for their student is ensure that the student has gained the ability to consolidate the information taught. The student must be able to reproduce the content learned in their own words at their own time. Specifically for English, many students have wonderful, original ideas in their minds, however, they…

The most important thing that a tutor can do is to pivot their teaching style in order to suit not only the content but how the student learns. Without this ability to change as necessary you are putting your students at a significant disadvantage. Breaking down complex concepts into simple ideas. Creating a comfortable learning environment where…

The most important things I can do for a student, is to put myself in their shoes when teaching. Often some students take longer to understand, comprehend or apply the knowledge taught. It' so important to go at their pace, whilst challenging them as well, because there's nothing we can't achieve if we set our minds to it. It' important to simply…

The most important thing would be to teach a student that studying shouldn't be a chore, and that giving it their all matters more than receiving a perfect grade. I understand that each student is different, and that not every approach will work for an individual, so it is essential that their tutor knows how to adapt to their needs while still…

I think that a tutor must be patient and remain composed with each student. A tutor is meant to be that person whose teaching is tailored, so it requires an individualized approach, picked up and constantly adjusted as needs change and develop. I have (as told to me by all my ever-suffering associates) a 'wild' vocabulary, and for English…

Expanding on what I have written earlier, I think that one of the most important things a tutor can do for a student is be prepared, and always willing to learn. I think this requires being a bit humble, and accepting that, even with something that may appear to be far below the tutor's learning, there may still be things that aren't known or have…

A tutor can tailor instruction to meet the specific needs, learning style, and pace of the student. Moreover, students can help students understand complex concepts by providing clear explanations, examples, and demonstrations. Additionally, a tutor can assess the student's strengths and weaknesses in a subject and use this assessment to create…

I believe the most powerful way a tutor can aid a student is by giving them confidence. More than often, students can show more vulnerability in a one-on-one session than in a classroom surrounded by their peers, and so the best thing I can do is use these private sessions to impart confidence in the students by making them see ways they can…

A tutor can be a guiding light for students. Each student has their own way of absorbing the information that they are taught. This might not always be available to students in a large classroom setting. A good tutor recognizes the strengths and weaknesses of the students and guides them accordingly. a tutor first needs to understand the capability of the student considering all the strengths and weakness and work on it. Only just transforming knowledge will not help the child grow but instead develop a liking for that particular subject will make that child understand it more easily. Temporary teaching does't work in this teaching field.…

Inside StepneyTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 3 student Leo practised multiplication facts up to 12x tables and worked on basic equivalent fractions with denominators up to 5.

In Year 8, Sarah focused on solving linear equations and revising graphical coordinates, including plotting points on the Cartesian plane.

Meanwhile, Year 9 student Tom tackled Pythagoras' Theorem using real-world triangle problems and explored introductory trigonometry concepts through guided examples.

Recent Challenges

A Year 3 student hesitated to write times tables, often needing drawn aids and still unsure of multiplication basics.

In Year 7 algebra, "he skipped showing steps in equations, which hid sign errors," leading to confusion with negatives and missed feedback opportunities.

A Year 9 student's work was scattered across the page—numbers blended together and operators lost—making it hard to trace their logic during trigonometry problems.

Meanwhile, a senior student faced setbacks when distracted on the laptop during coordinate geometry tasks; answers were attempted mentally but mistakes crept in, leaving corrections unseen until review.

Recent Achievements

One Stepney tutor noticed a Year 9 student who, after regularly skipping steps in algebra, now writes out his process clearly and explains how he arrives at answers—especially when tackling mixed-to-improper fractions.

In another session, a Year 11 student who previously hesitated to ask for help during assignments started flagging questions on index laws that felt tricky, then worked through them independently after just one prompt.

Meanwhile, a Year 4 learner surprised her tutor by confidently applying the same rule to both numerator and denominator for equivalent fractions—a real turnaround from needing every step modelled last week.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

We were extremely satisfied with our tutor.  She helped Chantal immensely and since then Chantal has done very well in school.  Her Naplan results came back today and they were above the National and her School marks. Ezy Math was very helpful and understanding and I have nothing but praise for the company.

I have used other tutors and tutor services in the past however the difference with ezymath was that I received regular reports on how my son was progressing and also tips and tools to enhance his learning.  The tutoring is very structured and also disciplined which kept my son on track.  Yesterday we received his year 9 Naplan results and he achieved a Band 10, and his results last semester at school were excellent and his confidence and ability has improved immensely  , many thanks to ezymath and his fantastic tutor.

Ezy Math tutoring gave me an invaluable opportunity and experience. With fortnightly advice, support and materials I was able to give my all to my students. The reward being an invaluable satisfaction when the mother heard from my students' teacher that her work was really improving. I really enjoyed the experience and always left the students feeling like I had made a change. For prospective tutors I would say Ezy Maths is a great place to work, they provide plenty of materials, support and the staff are very co-operative and understanding about your needs

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as St Peters Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like East Adelaide School.
