I believe that the most important thing that a tutor can do for a student is to allow the student to feel free to ask questions and to query explanations. This way, it allows for me to answer their initial query as well as giving me the opportunity to proactively infer other areas that they may not completely understand. My strengths are centred…

Remove the fear of not getting the one subject or one topic. As a teacher we must not just consider that two of our children is getting it ; but we should that why the others are not getting it . In these way , no one will feel left out and enjoy every subject wholeheartedly. I can be a friendly tutor for all ; so that they can share their…

The student will get little from the sessions if they don’t find what is being taught to them as fun or exciting. Thats why as a tutor, you need to make them look forward to seeing you next, and ensure you always have a positive attitude towards their learning journey. Able to level with the students as a young adult, and can safely say I have…

The most important thing that a tutor can do for a student is to allow the student to feel confident in their studies by adapting to their needs. As every student will prefer to study in different ways, so it is important that the tutor understands how their student studies best and supports them. Students may feel demotivated if they are…

A tutor can do many things, but the most important one is give their students the confidence to apply what they have learned to the best of their ability. You can guide a student through a dozen practice questions, but ultimately, it is more important that they see the work as approachable and not impossible to do by themselves. As a tutor I am…

Due to the education system constantly pushing students through grades regardless of results as well as very little discussion and revision upon mistakes after testing, I find helping a student be able to not only understand the individual question, but on top of that…

I think having a good personality is the most important thing as a tutor. This is because an educator is supposed to be patient, calm and helpful in front of his/her students. If he/she can't do that, he/she will always be in arguments with the students and thus mutual trusts between them will be lost. I think I have a good academic backgrounds…

Being a friend! Most students whom I’ve thought have confessed they gained more knowledge from me as they considered me to be more than a teacher as I had a great understanding from their point of view and tried to do more in class and reduce workload at home to balance their lives and education. I believe the most important thing a tutor can do is help students feel safe to try, fail, and grow. Many students come into tutoring thinking they are "just bad at maths," and it's our job as tutors to help break that mindset. From my own experience, I know how powerful it is when someone takes the time to understand your gaps, explain things at…

The most important thing tutors can do for a student is to just be there for the student and give their students the motivation and encouragement to work, having a tutor myself those were the things that assisted me in achieving my scores. This kind of motivation and encouragement can then build into other parts of the student's life thus…

I believe it is motivating and teaching the student how to get the most out of their time studying in and outside of their tutoring session. In my opinion, the relationship beyond subject tutoring is the most important aspect of a tutor. A great tutor must have the ability to connect deeply with the students to give them personalised teaching methods and materials, which ultimately increase both efficiency and effectiveness in teaching. In order of doing so, a tutor must have a great…

The most important thing is to make an individual understand the concept of the problem rather than individual problems so that they don't feel nervous when they a similar problem is presented in front of them. Inside Surrey HillsTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 12 student Tom focused on advanced financial maths, tackling reducing balance loans and effective interest rates, and worked through the steps of respiration in Biology.

Year 11 student Olivia reviewed matrix operations including inverses and scalar multiplication, then applied these to communication networks using diagrams for clarity.

Meanwhile, Year 9 student Liam practised solving quadratic equations by both factorising and graphing, building fluency with real examples from his textbook.

Recent Challenges

A Year 10 student repeatedly hesitated to start worded and application questions, often unable to choose which formula or process was required—on her quadratics test, she left many questions blank unless prompted.

Heavy reliance on the calculator emerged in statistics; when asked to interpret answers without technology, confusion set in: "she struggled with questions that could not be directly done on her calculator."

In Year 8 algebra, one student's working became hard to follow as he crossed out and wrote over steps, occasionally losing marks despite correct answers.

During a Year 7 session, another learner gave up quickly if shortcuts weren't available and avoided writing full working, stalling progress on multi-step problems.

Recent Achievements

A Surrey Hills tutor recently noticed a Year 10 student who used to hesitate with surds now breaking them down and simplifying on her own, even catching her own mistakes—something she'd struggled with before.

In a Year 12 session, a student who previously mixed up types of interest began confidently interpreting finance graphs and distinguishing between accrued and charged interest during exam-style questions.

Meanwhile, a younger primary student showed new independence by asking for extra explanation on probability concepts rather than guessing quietly, which hadn't happened in earlier sessions.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Balwyn Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Surrey Hills Primary School. Contact us at Ezy Math Tutoring Surrey Hills, 6a Bentley St, Surrey Hills VIC 3127, (03) 9008 7011
