As a previous student, one thing i realized that differentiated good tutors from mediocre ones is their ability to connect with me. As a shy person, I only felt comfortable asking questions to tutors that I was connected to. And so, I believe that the most important thing for tutors is to try to form a rapport relationship with their students, as…

In my opinion, the most important thing a tutor can do is to inspire curiosity and a passion for learning in their students. Academic knowledge from a tutor may sometimes be limited or even incorrect, but if students are motivated to learn, they will invest time in researching and expanding their understanding. Besides, a positive attitude towards…

The most important thing for a tutor is to never underestimate a student, and to be there for them as a support and to show them that they can. If a student loses self esteem and think that they can't do it...they wont. It's all about giving them a healthy mindset which allows them to gain the knowledge given. My biggest strength i believe is how…

Being willing to help, but also acknowledge the rare instances where a tutor may be unable to help to a confident level. When this problem is encountered, however, it is up to the tutor to rectify this by…

Spending time and resources on improving myself so that the I as a tutor can make the student understand better. Being honest, patient and a good listener adds up to it. Being present at all times for the students is the best thing a tutor can do, ensuring that they fully grasp the content without being put down for not understanding a concept. A tutor can inspire the students and also make them love a subject/ topic. They can boost their confidence in what they learn. Local Reviews

The process to get started was super easy and I was matched with a tutor who was at the right age and level for my child. Very happy with the process so far
Alison, Tarneit

Inside TarneitTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 6 student Sam focused on structuring narrative essays and practiced spelling, along with exploring ways to improve descriptive writing using picture prompts.

For Year 8, Priya worked through maths questions involving decimal multiplication and division as well as revising her homework essay for clearer arguments.

Meanwhile, Year 9 student Ethan reviewed probability concepts—calculating mean in probability problems—and refined his English homework essay with targeted feedback.

Recent Challenges

In Year 9 English, a student repeatedly finished essays without proofreading, leaving small grammar and punctuation errors; as one tutor noted, "proofreading was skipped, so capital letters after full stops were missed."

Meanwhile, in Year 11 Maths, another student often mixed up positive and negative signs when solving algebraic equations—misplacing answers despite understanding the method.

In Year 5, a student jumped into descriptive writing before brainstorming ideas and struggled to develop enough content for their paragraphs.

These process habits meant that clarity and accuracy suffered even when students had strong foundational knowledge.

Recent Achievements

One Tarneit tutor noticed a Year 8 student who previously rushed through essays now taking the time to brainstorm ideas and write longer, more detailed paragraphs, with fewer missing details than before.

In a recent high school maths session, another student who struggled with decimal problems managed to solve all their homework independently for the first time.

A primary student also showed a real shift by openly asking for help when stuck on spelling during writing tasks, instead of quietly guessing as they had in earlier weeks.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

My son Matthew has been a student of Arda's here in Perth. Arda has been fantastic and helped Matthew through the difficulties he was having. Matthew has achieved 93% in his last exam and his class tests have all been consistently high.

It is a great pleasure for us too, to see Vas enjoying his lessons, and trying his utmost hardest to listen and catch up. This is all due to Jake too, he is a very big favourite to Vas, he loves his lessons with him, as he explains everything they are doing till Vas understands.

Things are going great - James got over 90% in a recent test, and said it felt easy because he understood it. That's what I want to hear.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Julia Gillard Library Tarneit—or at your child's school (with permission), like St Teresa of Kolkata Catholic Primary School.
