What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
There are two things I most enjoy:
One is watching my students' growth in their knowledge and skills of mathematics. When they have proactively and comprehensively practised maths problems and they dramatically improve their test results as a result, it is such a rewarding feeling to see, both for myself and the student.
This relates to the second point, which is the growth in their self-confidence as a student. Once they realise they have the capacity to perform when they apply themselves, the joy and confidence they find is unmatched!
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
1. Being able to explain mathematics concepts in engaging and digestible ways. I ensure the student understands the concept, before we then practise applying the concept through repetition, to ensure the skills in problem solving and applying concepts are hammered home.
2. Coaching, encouragement and patience.
Understanding that often times students don't want to study after school, I endeavour to make lessons simple and engaging for the student. I patiently explain concepts and coach them as they tackle problems, while listening to any questions they have.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
1. Instil confidence in the student. This is through explaining the maths concept to the student so they understand, and then applying it through repetition through multiple problems.
As they continue this process, they cover the key areas tested in their classroom exams. This should result in higher, improved test results for the student, which boosts their self-confidence and enjoyment of learning.
2. Patience, engagement and coaching. Oftentimes, students need gentle encouragement or a nudge to find the answer instead of the answer being handed to them.
