The most important part about a tutor is making sure the student understands what they are teaching them. Since every student's way of learning is different, the tutor must be able to adapt to fit those needs. This is why a classroom is a bad environment since not all students reach their full capabilities. But this is why tutoring is perfect…

Inspire them. One of the biggest roadblocks for many students is a general reluctance to do it due to negative stigma from either their parents, peers or even themselves. Sometimes when students don't quite grasp a concept, they will think "well I just don't get it", and then further down the line every time that concept is built upon, they will…

The most important things a tutor can do for a student are to guide them towards the right answer without spoon-feeding them so they are able to effectively find the answer by themselves. The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is being able to be creative and innovative in teaching so that they will learn in the most effective way. The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to make sure a student can fully understand topics that have previously been difficult. I do not think it is not enough for a tutor to simply talk through the topic with the student and expect them to understand it. A tutor should explain the topic to the student and then, after more study…

Help them learn the way they learn best. Education is extremely important, and often students that seek tuition are having troubles with the work, which is often caused by the teacher not teaching them in the way that they learn best. Inside WillawongTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 8 student Priya focused on interpreting contour maps and applying bearings to real-world navigation problems.

In Year 10, James worked through finding solutions of simultaneous equations by graphing and reviewed statistical concepts like mean, median, and mode using practice questions.

For Year 12, Alisha tackled advanced calculus topics including integration techniques and partial fractions, as well as differential equations in the context of modelling motion.

Recent Challenges

Lesson notes from both Year 7 and Year 11 sessions reveal a consistent issue with incomplete written reports or missing homework.

For example, in a recent Year 11 session, "A few questions were left," suggesting that some assigned work was not finished, which limited opportunities for targeted feedback.

In a Year 7 lesson, the absence of a written report meant progress couldn't be tracked or reviewed at home. This sometimes led to confusion about what needed revision before tests—one tutor noted, "just had some confusion" when previous learning wasn't clearly documented.

Recent Achievements

A Willawong tutor recently noted a big step forward for a Year 10 student who completed all her maths assignment computations independently, after previously needing regular prompting to stay on track.

In another session with a Year 7 student, the tutor observed that she now asks questions when stuck instead of waiting passively—something she hadn't done before.

A younger primary student managed to finish every question within the set time limit for the first time, having struggled with focus and speed in earlier lessons.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Inala Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Australian International Islamic College.
