A tutor's greatest contribution is to give students confidence in their upcoming studies. In addition to teaching academic knowledge, tutors need to point out directions for students and divide difficult tasks into steps to cultivate students' problem-solving ability. I have sufficient experience in counseling teenagers, I am good at communicating…

There are 2 jobs of a tutor. To make the student understand what they are learning and also encourage them to do quality practice questions. I have a really deep understanding in all concepts of maths and physics (high school level), and I'm really good at breaking them down into simpler bits. I also know the importance of practicing these…

For me it is important for tutor to be able to encourage and make the student enjoy learning. Because in order for students to learn faster, they would need to be willing to digest the new knowledge and information given by the tutor. Furthermore, it is important for tutor to look at a problem from many different perspective, because one point of…

A lot of students have the preconception that math is impossible and unenjoyable. If you can unlock a students joy for mathematical thinking and problem solving, than half the job is done. Mainly the ability to convey complicated mathematical concepts in a clear concise and (maybe most importantly) enjoyable…

A tutor must be able to secure a positive impression of the subject in the student's mind, regardless of how arduous the subject content might be. A tutor is a third parent and must have immense patience to ensure that the child grasps each and every detail, even if they ask us to repeat what we taught. Besides, as tutors, we must always advocate…

In mi opinion, a tutor should take care of the students in terms of ensuring that they understand each one of the concepts and topics explained. He/she should not hesitate in repeating an explanation as many times as necessary if the student doesn't understand any topic. After finishing my bachelor in Aerospace engineering and some international…

One of the most important things a tutor can do for a student is to be proud of all the improvements the student has done. It's not about congratulating them for being a high achieving student. Instead, we should congratulate them for any improvement that they have done, since that is one step closer to success. I believe one of my strengths is…

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to be patient. Never give up on students. Some students may be fairly poor in understanding certain difficult topics and terms, but the teacher or tutor is responsible to try every possible way to let the student understand the concept. A tutor can be kind and patient with the student and open to any kind of question, however basic it might be and not ridicule the child. The tutor can also repeat the same thing until the student had finally grasped the concept so that they are completely confident. Having grown up around teachers, I have learnt a lot from them. I have learnt to…

I think teaching students how to be independent is something tutors must do. Prioritizing things like active learning wherein students get to question things themselves, rather than being spoon-fed answers is important. Making them learn that they can find the answers themselves if they put in the effort is important. And obviously creating all…

From my perspective of view, the most important things I can teach a student are the interests in this subject and finding pleasure from it. If that does not work, I will teach students the train of thought when solving different types of questions, summarise the key points and raise efficiency in their learning. The first and foremost is being patient. Not everyone can learn and understand concepts at the same pace, so patience is very important. Trying different learning styles when the initial learning style doesn't work is another one, because people don't learn the same way. I'm very good at breaking down complex concepts into clear,…

I think a tutor is a map for the pathway of the student's success. The tutor will do all within their limit to make sure they have given enough importance to the student to excel. This includes the peripheral knowledge that a student should have surrounding the content/topic - which means what is the purpose of learning/ how is it going to help…

Inside WindsorTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 5 student Nicholas practised converting mixed numbers to decimals and ordering decimals, then moved on to rounding decimals to different place values.

In Year 9, Ava worked through SOH-CAH-TOA trigonometry rules for right triangles and solved word problems using the Pythagorean theorem.

Meanwhile, Year 10 student Matthew focused on expanding and factorising algebraic expressions—including perfect squares—and applied these skills in exercises involving difference of two squares.

Recent Challenges

In Year 11 Mathematics, incomplete homework meant key credit card and interest concepts were forgotten—this showed up in quiz struggles. "A significant amount of knowledge...was lost over the last week due to incompletion of homework," a tutor noted.

In Physics (Year 12), written work for mechanics topics was sometimes hard to follow, with missed steps during multi-part calculations leading to errors that slowed progress on Module 5 questions.

For a Year 8 student, skipping working on paper and relying only on mental maths led to confusion in algebra problems; this habit made it harder to spot where mistakes crept in.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Windsor noticed one high school student who used to skip note-taking now diligently writes down key tips and even refers back to them when tackling new material.

Another secondary student, after weeks of struggling with logarithms, finally began applying log rules independently during practice questions, marking a real turning point in their understanding.

In Year 4, a younger learner who often guessed at answers started raising her hand to ask clarifying questions instead—showing she's becoming more comfortable seeking help rather than staying silent or guessing.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Prahran / Windsor Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Windsor Primary School.
