The most important thing a tutor can do for a student it be approachable. If the student feels comfortable asking questions and being honest about what they don't understand, it makes teaching them much easier. That's why, as a tutor, I would do my very best to be friendly and comfortable with the student, and make sure they can enjoy learning…

I think the most significant thing that a tutor can do is to instill confidence in the student, make them able to learn, and independent learners. It's not providing them with the answers but making them see the 'why' about things. A good tutor listens, is attuned to the way of learning of the student, and gets them at ease asking questions and…

I think self-taught is the most important thing that a tutor can teach a student. This is because self-taught can go with them anywhere but the tutor can not. Additionally, a tutor can not teach a student everything, so at some points, the student needs to explore themselves. I am patient and independent in studying. This is because I have been…

Successful tutors can build strong, personal relationships with their students. As they can teach to the student's strengths, they are able to minimize the student's weaknesses. Additionally, tutors listen and communicate early and often with parents and teachers I am very communicative. I can attract children's attention and make the lesson much…

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is ensuring his/her availability when they need it the most, in short being accountable to them. Apart from helping them learn the concepts, a tutor must ensure that they can give enough time to solve children's problems be it subject related or something else which can be personal. The tutor…

One of the most vital things a tutor should do is ensure that he is understood teaching-wise and that he understands his pupils perfectly. One thing that some teachers don't have is empathy for the unique condition of a student. A student's ability to learn can be affected in various ways, like by his surroundings and so on. It is significantly…

Empathy: Understand how the student is feeling or understood a particular concept based on their behavioural and body language cues. This is because most students do not give explicit feedback. Inside Airport WestTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 8 student Ava revised solving linear equations involving brackets and multiple x terms, and practiced rearranging equations into y = mx + c for graphing.

In Year 10, Daniel focused on statistics by identifying mean, median, mode, outliers and constructing boxplots using a CAS calculator with real data sets.

Meanwhile, Year 4 student Annabelle worked on multiplication tables and applied spelling strategies during reading aloud to strengthen both numeracy and literacy skills.

Recent Challenges

In Year 11 Physics, one student struggled with choosing the correct reference frame for projectile motion and occasionally copied calculator answers incorrectly, particularly decimals—"needs to practice being more careful when transcribing answers from the calculator to the paper."

In Year 10 Maths, skipping written steps in algebra meant sign errors went unnoticed until much later.

For a Year 7 student, homework was left incomplete after an illness; this break disrupted his recall of area and perimeter rules during revision.

In primary years, over-reliance on calculators or "rushing" through reading led to misread words or missed grammar cues, leaving comprehension gaps mid-story.

Recent Achievements

One Airport West tutor noticed that a Year 11 student who used to skip steps when simplifying surds is now carefully writing out each stage, which helps him avoid confusion and stay organised through multi-step problems.

In Year 10, another student who often hesitated to check calculator work has started using her intuition to spot errors and will now double-check large calculations independently instead of waiting for guidance.

Meanwhile, in primary school, Annabelle began applying fractions from her lesson to everyday life—before the session ended, she was already describing her lunch in fractions and explaining her thinking unprompted.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

Mihika is doing very well with both Lachlan and Courtney, they are building up a rapport together and their exam results have been improved. It certainly has boosted their confidence and we they like their tutor.

I just wanted to thank you Ezymath for helping my son to understand the curriculum of year 10 math.  My son found his teacher would repeat the same thing over and by having an ezymath tutor he was able to hear it explained in a different way and as often as needed for him to understand it.  He came 2nd in his class and passed with confidence.  I also found our tutor to be reliable, responsible and patient and I will be calling again when my daughter needs help with her math, which will probably be earlier than year 10.  Thank you again for supplying a tutor so quickly.

Working for EzyMath tutoring gave me a sense of strong responsibility and a feeling of accomplishment. I felt as though I had not only taken up a teaching role, but a mentoring role as well. The staff are there to help if you need it as well as a strong community of colleagues to access for support. I would recommend EzyMath tutoring to any clients and fellow tutors.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Moonee Valley Libraries—or at your child's school (with permission), like Essendon Keilor College-Niddrie Campus.
