make sure they're on the right track with their studies and even if you don't know the answer for yourself, be sure to steer them in the right direction of where they can find the information. Knowing what to study and how to study whilst managing time efficiently is just as important as the content itself. As someone who has been studying full…

Engineering Studies Tutor Yokine, WA
I think the most important thing is to be simple - not confuse the child with an overwhelming amount of information but rather take things slowly and ask directed questions to take them to each step of the answer. I have always had an intense dedication to doing well at school but despite long hours of work put in, I didn't always get the best…

Engineering Studies Tutor Tuart Hill, WA
A good tutor should be able to explain difficult concepts in a way that the student can understand. This involves breaking down complex ideas into simpler terms, providing examples, and encouraging questions. A tutor should create a supportive environment where the student feels comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. Overall, the most…

Other than endeavor to increase the student's performance and confidence in the subject. I believe a tutor must be able to generate interest in the subject so that the student is motivated to study and their performance consistently improves and is sustained. I think my greatest strength as a tutor is my attitude. I am approachable and if I am not…

Engineering Studies Tutor Osborne Park, WA
A tutor can impact a student's life to a great extent. A good tutor can instil many study skills that will serve the student well in academics and in life. Skills like organization, task initiation and time management are essential to being a great learner. Tutors can work at these skills to create confident, independent learners. I believe that…

Inside Alexander HeightsTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 7 student Chloe worked on calculating mean, median, mode, and range for different data sets and practiced representing this information using tables.

In Year 9, Ethan focused on solving linear equations and understanding isotopes and half-life in science, including some worksheet activities.

Meanwhile, Year 10 student Olivia reviewed simple interest calculations alongside forming and solving linear equations, with extra attention given to real-world worded questions.

Recent Challenges

A Year 10 student was encouraged to write down thoughts when tackling algebra, but often relied on mental calculations—leading to missed steps in rearranging equations and errors like "misreading values and question."

In a Year 7 lesson, incomplete notes on angles meant confusion persisted between co-interior and alternate angle types.

One senior student practiced only familiar times tables during revision; as noted, this avoided weaker areas and limited growth in harder multiplication tasks.

In Year 8, reluctance to show working ("does not want to/ does not understand the step by step approach") slowed progress solving fractions.

Recent Achievements

One Alexander Heights tutor noticed a Year 9 student who used to get stuck on equations now working out both x and y values independently and even identifying whether the gradient was negative or positive—a real leap from last term's hesitation.

In a recent high school session, another student who rarely spoke up began talking through her maths thinking aloud and showed more interest in tackling new problems, rather than waiting for prompts.

Meanwhile, a primary-aged learner completed all her school holiday homework on probability without reminders and could clearly explain her answers when asked.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

we are very pleased with the tutoring sessions Mario is providing. His tutoring has made a significant improvement to our daughters maths grades and has helped to increase our daughter's confidence with maths which she struggled with previously. He is also very patient, polite and punctual.

Definitely i would say that Lamia is a great Tutor and is tutoring Krintel really well, she is quite comfortable with Lamia and is surely getting support from her which she has been waiting for. Thanks once again for introducing Lamia to us.

So far so good. The kids are actually enjoying their time with Agnes so that's s good sign. Jaren came out of last weeks tutorial session saying "well you learn something new everyday". It just gives them more confidence with mathematical concepts, I think they're getting something out of it. Thank you.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Ballajura Public Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Alinjarra Primary School.
