The most important things a physics tutor can do for a student is to inspire and encourage them to take charge in their learning and step outside their comfortable zones to learn new things and expand their horizons. This encourages students to become independent lifelong learners and creates a positive attitude towards learning. My strengths as a…

Provide multiple teaching methods to gain maximum efficiency so that the students can make the best out of their own time and money. Ideally, I want to instill the same sense of wonder and love that I have for mathematics in the students. This won't work for all students, of course, so failing that I think a physics tutor should be able to teach a student how to think for themselves - it's one thing to be shown how to get an answer, and it's another thing entirely to be taught…

A student comes to a physics tutor because they struggle to understand the knowledge and they cannot communicate their struggles in school, hence they look up to us. So its very important to understand their problems, get simple solutions which makes it easier for them to grasp and then apply them. I believe my strengths are communication, making…

I believe giving the student confidence is so important as no matter how well you teach them if they believe they can't do it they won't succeed. I always try to start my students off with more basic questions to give them that bit of confidence before working with them to solve the more complex questions. I'm known for being a happy and…

The best thing a physics tutor can do for a student is it reduce the fear of studying/learning a subject. Mathematics is a tough subject and it is important tutors take the right approach when they teach that subject. I am a huge believer in teachers being friends with their students. The most important thing a physics tutor can do is make sure the student clearly understands the theory and understands the applications. This is because, students will be tested on their knowledge with complex unfamiliar questions where a more nuanced approach would be required. To believe in them. Tutors are mentors, and students need the support. To know someone believes in you might just be the push they need to sway their own self doubts, and thus manage their hindrances. Another important thing is to make themselves redundant. A tutor should aim teach a student so well and organised such that without the tutor…

Joyce, Bald Hills

Inside Bald HillsTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 11 student Chloe worked on integration techniques for finding the area under a curve and then applied these skills to solve practical problems involving definite integrals.

For Year 10, Ruby focused on solving linear equations and practiced interpreting boxplots for data analysis.

Meanwhile, Year 9 student Harry strengthened his understanding of mensuration by reviewing key formulae for surface area and volume, alongside practicing exam-style questions using diagrams to visualise 3D shapes.

Recent Challenges

A Year 12 student tackling integration and logarithmic functions relied heavily on calculators and skipped detailed algebraic working, as a tutor observed: "mistakes when expanding and factorising polynomial functions went unnoticed until the final answer was wrong." This meant valuable time was lost tracking errors rather than building fluency.

In Year 8, messy written work during simultaneous equations made it hard to spot small sign changes, which then snowballed into incorrect solutions.

Meanwhile, a Year 4 learner avoided writing out subtraction steps—especially with borrowing—leading to repeated confusion mid-question and frustration when checking answers at the end.

Recent Achievements

One Bald Hills tutor recently noticed Samantha's ability to use logarithmic laws has improved—she now chooses the right rule more confidently in tricky questions, a step up from last term's confusion.

In Year 9, another student who used to hesitate with worded mensuration problems now works through them without prompting and even attempts extra practice on her own.

Meanwhile, in Year 4, Hugo moved from guessing during time-telling activities to independently solving time sequence questions for his NAPLAN homework—this was the first week he finished every sequence without reminders or hints.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

Thank you for your follow up of my son's tutor.  I am very happy with Ben and my son told me that he is getting along with Ben, much better than his previous teacher.  Ben's teaching techniques is very different compare to his previous teacher, therefore my son is finding he has learnt much more with Ben.  Thank you for sending him such a good teacher.  I would highly recommend Ben to my friends if they ever need a tutor. Thank you.

I would like to say that Justin is a wonderful young man. I know it's only early stages but Arin had a smile on his face that filled my heart. Arin has a lot of respect for Justin, which tells me there is a good connection or understanding developing. Thank you for finding us Justin. In Arin's words ' I have learnt more with Justin in three lessons than with the other tutor we had over the past year'. I think we can say Arin has gotten off to a great start. My only hope is that Justin is also comfortable with us.

Zaliha found the tutoring extremely helpful and Jacob is a wonderful teacher, very intelligent and patient. Zaliha googled your service online and we cannot find fault with the professional service and assistance that Ezy Math Tutoring provides. We would not hesitate to reengage with Ezy Math Tutoring in the future and will highly recommend your service to others. Thanks again for all of your support and a special thank you to Jacob.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Bracken Ridge Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Norris Road State School.
