Support their discovery of the subject they have a difficulty in understanding. NOT to think for them, instead, challenge them to use their own capacity to think solutions and have the unlimited courage to make mistakes and learn from them. My strengths as a tutor include patience, perseverance and insight into the misunderstandings and challenges…

I believe an english tutor can prepare interactive lectures, so that students can participate in the lectures. That technique is very helpful to get the maximum attention of the students. Moreover, a tutor can provide real life example of the topics so that students can easily relate the study contents with the real world. I can easily get…

The most important thing an english tutor can do is to act as a mentor for their student and guide them through their schooling career. From an academic standpoint, it is important for a tutor to provide a more personal and direct way of teaching than would be achievable in a school environment. I think my greatest strengths as a tutor is the…

I think the most important thing an english tutor can do for a student is not simply improving their results, but rather, teaching them how to study and keep them engaged. I think knowing how to study can benefit students as they will always be studying new things in their lives. Knowing how can help them learn new things more easily and quickly.…

I think it is important to build a strong relationship with with my students. This way, it allows the students to feel comfortable to ask me questions if they are unsure of anything. I think it is also important to make sessions interactive to make sure that the students are fully engaged to ensure that they make the most out of the sessions. It…

I think the most crucial part of any tutoring experience is to make sure that the student knows that the tutor is there for them and will not get frustrated if mess something up. If the tutor comes off as condescending or annoyed at a lack of progress, it can allow the student to put added pressure on him/herself or create an aversion to learning…

At face value, the most important thing is of course getting good results itself. That is the intent and purpose of the tutor. But in the bigger picture, the tutor must also develop the soft skills of the student, develop professionalism and perfectionism in their work, develop discipline and help them grow holistically I am patient, can come up…

Help them to understand that they can learn. That they understand that teaching is one aspect of the education process and the other is learning. That all students have the capacity to learn especially if the teacher is prepared to apply their best effort to offering those students a way to understand the information. Among the most important things an english tutor can do for a student is that a tutor must be able to understand a student's learning style so that the student would be able to learn the material in a way that is analogous to their mode of synthesising knowledge. A tutor must do this all the while being open and kind and most especially warm…

A tutor is a guide to show the right path. Students might stumble a lot, but tutor should hold him up, stand by him and show the right direction. Efficiency in obtaining a face to face tutor.

Inside BalmainTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 10 Josh reviewed financial maths concepts like taxable income and revised coordinate geometry, including transformations on the number plane.

Year 9 Malissa practised writing speeches for English based on A Midsummer Night's Dream and worked through trigonometry problems using bearings.

For Year 8 Tom, recent sessions included algebraic equations revision ahead of a test and practice with area calculations for rectangles and triangles, often using diagrams to reinforce methods.

Recent Challenges

A Year 10 student was unable to specify what topics would be on her upcoming maths assessment, which limited targeted revision and left her less prepared—"in the future she really needs to know this because then we can do revision directly on the topics that she will be tested on."

In Year 9 English, another student's essay drafts lacked structure and clear topic sentences; over-description replaced use of language techniques.

Meanwhile, a Year 7 student repeatedly zoned out during maths lessons, making it harder to retain new formulas for surface area and volume.

Missed opportunities for focused practice and feedback resulted in lingering uncertainty before tests.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Balmain noticed a big shift with one Year 11 student who, after weeks of hesitation, started actively asking questions during sessions and made real progress interpreting graphs on her own.

In Year 9, another student who used to rely heavily on hints for simultaneous equations began catching and correcting mistakes without prompting, especially when working through algebra problems.

Meanwhile, a Year 5 student known for second-guessing himself surprised everyone by finishing an entire worksheet independently—only pausing to double-check his answers at the end.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

Working with Ezy Math Tutoring was great because all tutors are continuously supported in various ways. It is not only a teaching experience but also a learning experience. Tutors gain skills through work, weekly training and materials online. The continuous communication between tutors, students, parents and Ezy Math Tutoring is very important and valuable. 19th July 2012

Throughout my employment I received many helpful pieces of information from Ezy Math Tutoring, which detailed clever teaching strategies and techniques to help my students achieve their best. Using lesson plans to organise and prepare for my lessons is something that I was encouraged to do by Ezy Math Tutoring, which I hadn't used with students previous to my time with this company. This was very helpful both for me to have a clearer idea of my goal for each lesson, and also for my students to better understand what our aims were each week. During my employment it was evident that Ezy Math Tutoring always sought the satisfaction and best for its students as well as its tutors. It was a pleasure to work with this company. 19th July 2012

The biggest accomplishment any math tutor can have (myself including) is seeing the student progress, knowing that they understand and have the confidence to complete any task/question without fear. The key skills I got from math tutoring is being able to effectively communicate in a mentor manner. This is an essential skill for progression in almost every career path, as most careers will require you to train a new colleague, manage a team, or oversee a project, etc. I would strongly recommend Ezy math tutoring to anyone, they are professionals who strive to achieve the goals each student has in progressing towards understanding mathematics. 20th July 2012

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Balmain Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Birchgrove Public School.
