I believe that boosts a student's confidence in the school environment as they are receiving additional help from outside. This allows them to enjoy their time at school and develop positive learning habits. All of these effects will result in better grades for a student, once again fostering more confidence, and cycling back to better grades. I…

Providing extra motivation to study. ie, giving them a reason to study as a student, as those younger typically need some sort of reason to work hard. A tutor also needs to be able to teach the content well and clearly, be patient for the student to learn and also talk in an articulate manner. The tutor also needs to act as an advisor and…

The most important thing that a tutor can do for a student is to never give up on them. I am confident that everyone has the ability to achieve great results given the right amount of effort and proper guidance. The most important things a tutor can do is to impose a light and easy atmosphere for their students without compromising the knowledge that must be passed on. A tutor should be able to assess a child's progress on certain lessons, and pick up if the child would need for help on certain aspects of lessons even without the child saying so. It is…

Most important thing a tutor can be for a student is to be their mental support no matter what life circumstances they might be involved in and be their best friend. The crucial factor a tutor can assist student is show them where to look as most students will have their own way of finding the direction. What I mean by that is teach and make them understand, give them multiple approach of solving an equation, and later they will choose what best suits them. I would say my strength will be the ability to relate…

Provide some form of feedback to students on the way they are tackling certain questions, done by identifying their strengths/weaknesses and giving them areas they could improve on. Also, i believe a tutor should also be there to help ensure that all students' mental wellbeing is understood and provide support to those who need it, because…

Empathise, empathise, empathise! I think tutors have to put themselves in their tutee's shoes and understand how they might respond and grasp to teaching approaches and concepts, tailoring their teaching around it. A teacher's predominant responsibility is to TEACH, which demands building a personal relationship with the tutee; proficiency in a…

Parents of my students frequently tell me that their kids feel safe and loved in my classroom. Inside Bankstown AerodromeTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 8 student Ali focused on rates and ratios, applying these to real-world problems, and reviewed algebraic equations using step-by-step examples.

Year 11 student Sarah completed a mock exam covering sketching polynomials and basic graph transformations, then practiced simple permutation and combination questions.

Meanwhile, Year 3 student Mia worked on telling time with phrases like 'to' and 'past', alongside drawing analogue clocks for practice.

Recent Challenges

A Year 9 student's algebra working was described as "messy at times," making it hard to track logic, which impeded understanding and error checking.

A Year 11 student skipped steps in trigonometry proofs and later forgot the approach—"he tends to forget things I teach him (ie. tan/sin/cos)." This recurring omission of steps leads to confusion and loss of method retention.

In Year 10, a rushed approach to graphing led to scratchy lines and confusion when checking answers, undermining accuracy and self-verification.

A Year 8 student avoided drawing diagrams for geometry, leading to longer solution times and increased difficulty visualizing problems.

One senior student's time management faltered on tests; his illegible working "would mark him down for not being able to understand work."

Recent Achievements

One Bankstown Aerodrome tutor noticed a Year 11 student who, after initially struggling with polynomial division, began identifying trends in the questions and now completes homework independently.

In a recent session with a Year 8 student, the tutor saw a real shift: she started asking for help when unsure about domain and range problems, rather than staying quiet as before.

Meanwhile, a Year 4 student who used to hesitate over reading passages is now pronouncing words with silent letters more accurately and answering comprehension questions without prompting. Last week, he finished an entire set of tricky maths word problems on his own.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

Just wanted to let you know that Mark seems like a good match for Nik. He really likes him and had a really successful first session. Thanks for your support and assistance in finding him!

Bre says she is happy with Ameya. He explains things well and ensures she understands things before moving on. Only week 3 but all good so far.

Hayden is starting to feel more confident with his maths, so we think 10 weeks more tutoring should cover all bases for now, and a few weeks towards the end of the school before the final exams should do wonders for his results. Thankyou.....

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Panania Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Condell Park High School.
