The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to be patient, understading and to listen. This allows for the student to be comfortable and be in a space where they can learn at an optimal rate and feel comfortable to ask any questions related to the work. I am understanding and have the ability to empathise with the student, allowing me…

A tutor, in my opinion, helps the student build on what they have already covered in their schools. Sometimes, it's all about helping them further their understanding and establishing strong connections between the concepts taught in class and the activities in their everyday life and tailor the content according to their level of understanding…

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to guide them into identifying their strengths and weaknesses and helping them to improve both of these factors I believe my biggest strength is my ability to be patient with others. As a BMD technologist I am accustomed to working with elderly patients who are often slow in their speech or…

Being supportive, encouraging and validating for sure. Providing constructive feedback all the time which enables a deeper and further understanding of the subject. Rewarding their achievements, which overall encourages them to do and achieve more. I think also being patient is crucial, this knowledge and subjects can be super hard sometimes, so…

I believe in these times students lack the confidence and motivation that studying requires. They are continuously forced to learn new concepts rapidly. I am an attentive individual who specializes in perfecting a steady and solid base before moving to complex information. in this way, the student is confident to create steady incremental progress…

I believe that a tutor should be able to help the student both grow as a person and mentally with their learning. In a hindsight, a tutor is someone they can trust and rely on with regards to getting help for homework, learning new concepts, and getting advice regarding exam and assessment task preparations. So as such, if the tutor can enable a…

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is make sure the student is engaged, without the full attention of the student even the simplest topics are impossible to teach. After personally attending multiple tutoring services, I've realised engagement is more important than the ease of understanding sometimes, I will strive to provide…

I believe the most important thing a tutor can do is provide words of encouragement to students. When students are struggling and get bad grades, we are to remind them that they know the solutions they have studied all year round and they can always do better a grade isnt the end of the world. By encouraging and motivating students we can help…

Being a tutor has many important objectives, however I believe the most essential is to ensure the students understands and comprehends the information in their own way. A way that not only makes sense for them, but that helps their learning to stay with them. Not every student is the same, learning in different ways . - Communication Skills -…

I think the most important things tutors can do for students is provide them with support and encouragement, on top of the necessary resources and skills and understanding of concepts they need - providing them with strong moral support and building their confidence, so they can believe in themselves and excel. I believe the most important function of a tutor is to motivate and challenge their students to be the best version of themselves. Though tutors provide academic support, their main priorities should lie in their interpersonal connection with their students. If this connection didn’t exist, students might as well watch a prerecorded video. This…

I believe tutors as a mentor have to consider being there for students academically and emotionally, this being most crucial for a student. While tutors can certainly enhance a student's knowledge and academic abilities, being able to create a supportive environment will allow students to feel motivated and happy to work hard for their studies. My…

I truly believe this will be actively listening and giving plenty of feedback. A good tutor will always make sure that the student really understands the concept and knows how to effectively teach the student in a way that works for them. I believe a tutor is significant in determining a students weaknesses to a greater level than a teachers and providing lessons more specific to address those weaknesses. Instead of teaching in a standard linear fashion, I prefer to let the pupil choose what they would like to practice and I will explain the concept while showing how the idea can be applied and adjusted. Inside BardiaTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 8 student Rohan focused on understanding electron configuration and the differences between ions and isotopes, as well as revising key concepts like homeostasis and the nervous system through practice exam questions.

For Year 9, Mason worked on operations with fractions—including addition, subtraction, and multiplication—alongside converting improper fractions to mixed numerals using the cross method.

Meanwhile, Year 6 student Aleigha practised vertical multiplication and tackled word problems involving addition, subtraction, and multiplication algorithms to strengthen her calculation skills.

Recent Challenges

A Year 10 student preparing for exams struggled to consistently update and review summary notes, which left him feeling "pressured or behind in his exam preparation."

In senior maths, a student found it challenging to recognise when to apply the correct trigonometric formula in worded questions, often missing connections because she hadn't revised past topics or broken down information systematically.

Meanwhile, a Year 6 student forgot to complete assigned homework and lost track of concepts previously taught—when asked about multiplication abbreviations, he kept glancing at notes for reassurance despite understanding. These habits led to confusion and interrupted progress mid-lesson.

Recent Achievements

One Bardia tutor noticed a big shift in Rohan, a high school student who used to hesitate with scientific concepts—he's now actively asking questions during lessons and even keeps a summary document open to track what he needs to review.

In chemistry, after struggling with electron transfer diagrams at first, he can now draw and explain them independently.

Another secondary student, Khloe, initially froze when faced with new algebra problems but has started working through solutions out loud until she finds the answer.

Meanwhile, a Year 4 student surprised his tutor by reading clock times without prompting or hesitation for the first time.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Glenquarie Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Bardia Public School.
