Tutors have to be cooperative and empathetic to teach students. Moreover, they need to embody leadership qualities. It is necessary for the students to enjoy learning so that they can have a complete grasp of knowledge about a particular subject. This will allow them to achieve their desired results. I think the most important thing a chemistry tutor can do is be supportive. All behaviour is belief driven, if a tutor convinces a pupil that he can do it, he will. I believe I am calm, patient, persevering, and supportive. Especially when it comes to perseverance, I will not be deterred if a student doesn't originally understand my explanations…

I consider the most important thing a chemistry tutor can do for a student is to be fully committed to them while fully giving the student their attention while teaching. Furthermore, I believe that a tutor has to prepare themselves very well before a lesson and bring multiple techniques with them in order to make sure that the student can fully…

The most important thing a chemistry tutor can do for a student is to be loving. Actually caring for the student's academic success will not only make them more likely to succeed, but it will help them go beyond to reaching a scholarly level. My two leading strengths are that I know how to teach to make difficult subjects more easy to understand…

Be a friend. This is how I was taught by my tutors and this is how I taught as well. If there is a deeper bond than that of just a student and teacher, the student really shines. The students open up more to the teacher. This helps the teacher to plan on how to help the student. I can understand what the student needs. I can connect with the…

A tutor should identify the students' areas of weakness and focus on helping the students gain knowledge in these areas rather than teaching the student what they already know. The most important thing is to make sure that the student has completely understood the concept. It is useless to move forward if they don't understand the basics. Tutors fill a different role than teachers and parents, and that puts them in a unique position to support students. Personal relationships are foundational to student success -- the more connected a student feels to his or her tutor, the more the tutor creates trust and respect, essential ingredients for students to learn well. When a chemistry…

The most important thing a teacher can teach a student is something about how they learn best, like what techniques, environements, etc. they need to learn effectively. Inside Bardwell ParkTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 8 student Aimee revised exponents and prime factorisation, then practised converting between decimals, fractions, and percentages.

For Year 10, Emily focused on quadratic expressions by factorising both monic and non-monic equations using the PSF method and also worked through completing the square.

Meanwhile, Year 11 student Jason applied the sine rule to solve for unknown sides in triangles and explored its applications with practice questions.

Recent Challenges

A Year 8 student working on negative numbers often avoided writing out full workings, preferring to "do it in my head," which led to repeated sign errors and confusion—especially in worded questions.

In a Year 10 geography task, not having the assignment sheet or any class notes left her scrambling for requirements at the last minute; as one tutor observed, "she was somewhat unprepared as this assignment was left to the last minute."

Meanwhile, a primary student's tendency to write long run-on sentences made editing difficult and sometimes caused missed grammar corrections. These moments slowed progress and increased frustration during sessions.

Recent Achievements

One Bardwell Park tutor recently noticed a Year 9 student who had struggled with algebraic laws now working through commutative and associative law problems without needing reminders, showing real independence compared to earlier sessions.

Another high school student was initially hesitant about probability concepts but started asking for extra practice on sample space and could accurately explain the difference between theoretical and experimental probability by the end of the lesson.

In a primary session, a Year 4 learner who previously rushed their work began checking each answer before moving on—demonstrating new patience by catching their own mistakes in a fractions exercise.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

Yes, all going well with Vicky thank you for the follow up. Pareise is great and Vicky loves the way she explains things to her.

So far, the tutor has been great, Aryan is very happy with Sean. He has helped Aryan make big progress with his school work. Thank you for providing a great service and tutor.

Yes we are very happy, Kane is away this week but we will be continuing through the school holidays.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Earlwood Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Bardwell Park Infants School.
