Geography Tutor Frankston, VIC
I believe the most important things a tutor can do for a student are to build confidence, provide clarity, and encourage curiosity. Building confidence is essential because students often struggle more with self-doubt than with the material itself. By being encouraging and celebrating progress, a tutor can help students trust their abilities and…

Geography Tutor Skye, VIC
I genuinely believe a tutor can make a long term impact of enjoyment and engagement within a subject with their passion and teaching methods. I believe this is the most important thing for a tutor. I think I’m a patient individual and who can adept well to different personalities and alter my teaching philosophy…

Geography Tutor Skye, VIC
I think to provide a larger framework or paradigm for what they are learning. When something fits into a context for "why" they are learning a concept. Mainly being able to listen to the student. I think I'm enthusiastic about getting to know them and what they care about, which helps me teach. Rather than just trying to do a…

Just wanted to let you know that we had our first lesson with Dillon last Wednesday and first impressions of him are fabulous. What a lovely guy, very confident and friendly with a lovely approach and a great, firm handshake! She enjoyed meeting Dillon so on wards and upwards from here.

Inside BaxterTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 4 student Vai worked through an Essential Assessment from school, carefully reviewing why certain maths answers were incorrect.

In Year 9, Jesse tackled probability questions focusing on set notation and completed chapter exercises from 8A while also learning strategies for organising homework and notes effectively.

Meanwhile, Year 12 student Mia revised the rectangular hyperbola and truncus, breaking down graphing steps and discussing how to approach worded quadratic problems in detail.

Recent Challenges

In Year 7, a student was "still quite far behind in the questions," needing external motivation to catch up and build trust in their own answers.

A Year 10 learner repeatedly tried to solve equations mentally instead of writing out steps, which led to confusion and falling further behind—especially when tackling algebra.

For VCE (Year 12) Maths Methods, another student's over-reliance on formulas without grasping core concepts left them stuck during worded problems; as one tutor noted, "He instinctively looks for a formula rather than understanding what is happening." In these moments, confidence wavered and progress slowed.

Recent Achievements

One Baxter tutor recently noticed a big shift in a Year 10 student's independence—she started speaking her thought process out loud during algebra questions, which helped her solve them much faster than before when she'd stay quiet and get stuck.

In another session, a senior student who used to need frequent hints with calculus problems began connecting the right concepts to tricky worded questions on his own and required much less prompting.

Meanwhile, a younger student made a breakthrough by finally grasping how to share objects equally for division after struggling with the idea last term, even finishing all ten practice problems without help.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

Ezy Math Tutoring was an excellent service for my daughter who had been finding maths hard.   It provides one on one tuition at the home of the student and the tutors tailor the work directly to the needs of that student.    I recommend Ezy Math Tutoring as it is well organised,  efficient and highly convenient.    Our tutor was very patient and helpful and our daughter's maths grades improved.  In addition, we received progress reports, and information regarding further maths resources.

Ally seems to have settled in very well with Ben and enjoys learning with him. She finds that he is easy to understand and explains mathematical concepts well.

We are very happy with the way things have started with Todd. India is finding her sessions very helpful and Todd is very patient and constructive.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Somerville Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Woodleigh School.
