Being able to provide support. I consider a chemistry tutor responsibility towards students is to be committed and flexible. The tutor should be with their student even if both have been going through the exam period. The tutor should never cancel on a lesson with a student for their own studies. As well, it is a must to be patient towards the student and be flexible as a tutor…

Ideally, although admittedly ironic, you want a student to be able to stand on their own two feet and achieve their goals without the need of a chemistry tutor at some point. So, although the direct role of a tutor is to teach content, the wider, arguably more profound role of a tutor is to teach lifelong skills, habits, and techniques that…

For me, the most important thing a chemistry tutor can provide a student is confidence. I think a tutor can bring out the inner talent of a student. Suppose a student who could not able to gain a good marks in exams or failing continuously, I will give that student mental support. In my humble opinion, I believe that ACTIVE LISTENING is the most important quality that good tutors must possess. - Good tutors must recognise that students generally have an idea of the topic at hand. Instead of simply continuing to "teach" it is vital that tutors ask students of their understanding of the topic so that gaps in knowledge can…

Most important thing for any tutor is to understand their student well. Next big thing is encouraging the students and help them maintain a positive attitude. Only if the student is motivated and have positive…

Inside BeckenhamTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 4 student Jack practised addition and subtraction of hundreds, as well as solving basic word problems involving carrying numbers.

Year 9 student Sarah focused on factorisation and graphing quadratics, including finding the roots and sketching graphs by hand.

Meanwhile, Year 10 student Lucas worked through algebraic expansion and factorisation using different methods, with extra attention given to tackling challenging test-style questions.

Recent Challenges

In Year 8 Maths, calculator input errors and missed negative signs ("Needs to ensure the input in the calculator is correct") led to avoidable mistakes on algebra questions—one tutor noted, "she lost marks when a negative sign was overlooked."

For a Year 11 English student, over-reliance on copying text instead of paraphrasing limited essay clarity and structure.

In Year 4, messy handwriting and writing outside given spaces made it difficult for teachers to follow working.

A Year 6 student sometimes avoided sounding out unfamiliar words, skipping them during reading tasks. This left gaps in understanding and confidence mid-lesson.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Beckenham recently noticed a Year 10 student who had previously hesitated to express original ideas now starting to write answers in their own words, moving away from simply copying the text.

In a high school maths session, another student who often struggled with logical problem-solving managed to structure their answers clearly after just some guided hints.

Meanwhile, a Year 4 learner who used to need frequent reminders about spelling has begun spelling out words independently when shown once and can now name various places without any prompting.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

Ezymaths is a great place to work as tutors are provided with the combination of independence and assistance needed to further any students' education. 30th July 2012

There are many accomplishments I achieved as a math tutor for Ezy Math Tutoring but the biggest would have to be having the chance to work with students who are striving for success and the satisfaction that came with connecting to the students when trying to explain a topic, whether they be a senior student working toward a good Overall Position or a beginner grasping for understanding in the subject of mathematics. From the tutoring experience during my time with Ezy Math Tutoring, I was able to achieve exactly what I was after while job hunting, and that was the ability to take on a leadership role and lead students from stressful situations of not understanding content to successful results within a few months time. I would definitely recommend working with Ezy Math Tutoring as they take the effort in assigning students within your area so travelling to students is not an issue, and for the students looking for tutors, the tutors here will offer you as much help as you need, with set strategies proven to be successful to help you reach where you want to be. 31st July 2012

My biggest accomplishment is guiding a year 12 student through the final topics of 2 Unit mathematics and making her understand the concepts and formulas in those topics. My second biggest accomplishment is my year 8 student receiving an A. I came to work for Ezy Math Tutoring because I wanted an income while studying in University. What I got out of the tutoring experience is that I have increased my communication skills as well as my teaching skills. I also gained experience in being responsible. What was special about Ezy Math Tutoring were the guidelines that were given to us. They were good on guiding how to set each lesson, what to expect and how to handle certain situations. 3rd August 2012
