Since different students, all have their own way of learning. Therefore I think it is important for tutors to know the characteristics of a students' learning through the first or second classes, then tutors should come up with an appropriate study plan for students' further studies. Also, it is necessary to build relationships with students.…

Every student is different and it is the tutors' responsibility to recognize this and adhere to students learning patterns. Tutors need to understand the question asked by students before they teach the solution to students. After solving the problems, it is important to analyse the problems that students have. Students might be unclear about one basic theory, resulting in the incapability of solving extended questions. Therefore, tutors should be able to point out the…

I believe that tutors and teachers alike are not endless sources of book knowledge but rather a librarian who must guide students to discover, interpret and apply knowledge for themselves. Thus, it is crucial that a tutor forms a strong relationship with its students to create an environment where student learning is maximised. Further, in…

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to allow the student to enjoy the process of learning the material. To me, if a tutor is able to create an environment that is enjoyable as well as make the learning process enjoyable it can help the student to improve a lot quicker as they are enjoying the process more. My strongest…

I believe effort is the most important thing, regular check ins, solving problems for the student and being able to not only be a tutor but also a friend. This approach optimises time allocation, enabling focused attention on individual weaknesses. I think an ideal tutor should teach to the student's strengths and minimise their weaknesses by helping them in their weak areas. It's also equally important to be compassionate and build rapport through empathy and effective communication. - I graduated from high school a few years ago, and I was my school topper consistently from year 3 to 12.…

The tutor chosen for my daughter connected with her at the first lesson and has made the idea of being tutored a positive experience. Which I very grateful for. I gave you 1 star less as I had difficulty in trying to pay for one of the prepaid packages.
Meghan Laguzza, Beecroft

Inside BeecroftTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 8 student Hamish worked on classifying numbers, as well as converting decimals to fractions and identifying multiples and factors.

For Year 10, Ella focused on measurement questions involving absolute and percentage error, then moved to linear graphs—finding gradients and y-intercepts using examples from her textbook.

Meanwhile, Year 11 student Arish tackled challenging complex number problems alongside some proof questions set by his school teacher.

Recent Challenges

A Year 12 student was observed "cramming all homework into one sitting," resulting in rushed responses and gaps when tackling advanced topics like polynomials and logarithms. This left little room for meaningful revision or feedback use before lessons.

In Year 10, a student repeatedly relied on the formula sheet for trigonometry instead of memorising key relationships—"he kept checking the sheet each time rather than recalling the rule."

Meanwhile, a Year 4 learner skipped reading full word problems, leading to frequent misinterpretation: answers often missed key details from later sentences. This tendency undermined their confidence when faced with multi-step questions in class.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Beecroft recently noted a Year 11 student who previously hesitated with exam techniques now independently pinpoints her weaker areas and applies new strategies to tackle them.

In Year 8 maths, one student who often guessed when stuck has started pausing to ask clarifying questions instead, showing real initiative and less reliance on luck.

Meanwhile, a younger student who struggled with measuring lines using a ruler was initially apprehensive but, after some hands-on practice, now confidently measures and compares lengths without prompting. Last session, he completed all his line measurement tasks smoothly on his own.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Pennant Hills Branch Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Beecroft Public School.
