Inside BellaraTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 12 student Ella explored differentiation techniques, including tangents to curves and sketching cubic functions, while also reviewing aspects of her PSMT task.

In Year 11, Sam worked on finding derivatives and applying calculus concepts such as tangents to a point for his maths assignment.

Meanwhile, Year 8 student Ava practised solving problems involving congruent triangles and shapes before moving on to indices, reinforcing these using step-by-step examples.

Recent Challenges

A Year 11 student made progress with differentiation but, as noted, "talking out loud helps with mistakes"—small sign errors in calculus still slipped through when working silently.

In Year 10 trigonometry, not memorising the exact value triangles led to hesitancy during practice problems and extra time spent checking notes.

For a Year 8 student, incomplete memorisation of area and circumference formulas for circles meant confusion during geometry questions and slower problem-solving.

Meanwhile, a primary student's written work was flagged as needing neater layout; messy setting-out made it harder to review their reasoning after each question.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Bellara recently noticed a Year 11 student who had struggled with indices at first but, after some targeted practice, began solving them accurately and with much more confidence than before.

Another high schooler started out unsure about trigonometric equations but, by the end of the session, could work through them independently and even remembered how to use product, quotient, and chain rules from previous lessons.

Meanwhile, a Year 5 student who used to stay quiet now actively contributes ideas during sessions and has begun embracing challenges instead of shying away from difficult problems.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

The tutoring is going tremendously well.  The system you use, the high level of communication and dependability shown by Nirvan, and the teaching style is working exceptional well.  I'm very impressed with your service, and its meeting my (high) expectations.  I fully appreciate that this is not a quick fix, and it takes time.  We're committed to continuing this throughout Term 3 and 4 at least. The support and patience Nirvan is showing is really helping Emily, and he is supportive and has the capacity to challenge her at the right pace.  I've asked her why some things that we've tried to work through before have made more sense when explained by Nirvan.  She said that he works at her pace and stays with something until she understands it. Many thanks.  Your back-office communications is also highly supportive of parents and whilst you're delivering on what you've clearly explained, I find your level of communication extremely professional, supportive and consistent.

The tutoring seems to be going well. I've asked Niamh and she is also very comfortable and happy with Ben. First maths test since her tutoring with Ben started and she received a mark of 90 so I think we're on the right track.

We are very happy with Kieren. Quinn thinks it's fun and Ronan, although he's very shy, is comfortable with Kieren.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Bribie Island Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Banksia Beach State School.
