For me, the most important thing a physics tutor can provide a student is confidence. It is paramount that a tutor encourages the student to become intrinsically motivated to study and to cultivate a love for the subject, as this will allow the student to fully achieve their potential. Ensuring that a student has confidence and self belief can be…

The most important thing that can be done is to give as many resources as necessary. I say this because of all the tutors I have had, the most helpful was the one that gave me access to endless resources which constantly had me practicing my content which greatly assisted me in realising my weaknesses. In my opinion, there are three main factors to consider: 1) Solve all the doubts that the student has. 2) Encourage students to continue exploring in depth the topic that is learned. so he can better understand what he is studying only if he can constantly practice. 3) Encourage students to ask, to do research, to challenge themselves in…

I think that it's really important to be a good listener so that you can use feedback from students to improve your teaching. Not everyone learns in the same way so it's really important to work with each student to find the learning tehniques that work best for them. It's also important to recognise that each student could prefer different…

As a physics tutor it is extremely important to make sure that when teaching concepts it's at a pace where the student can actually understand what's going on and isn't falling behind. Being able to help students who are unable to understand a concept and not singling them out, as it would only lower their confidence and they would never answer…

Inside BentleyTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 8 student Ali worked on finding gradients of lines using both the rise over run method and co-ordinates, as well as solving linear inequalities and exploring parallel and perpendicular gradients.

For Year 10, Sara focused on chemical equations by practising ionic formulas, hydrated compounds, and empirical formula calculations, reinforcing her understanding through worked examples.

Meanwhile, Year 6 student Nia tackled decimals and fractions in geometry questions, using diagrams to help compare values and solve problems involving shapes.

Recent Challenges

A Year 10 student working on chemical equations had not completed the assigned homework, leading to repeated minor errors in writing formulas—"the student still shows some minor mistakes in writing chemical formulas," noted one tutor.

In Year 8 maths, another student's written work on rearranging equations was messy and lacked clear labelling, making it harder to spot calculation errors before moving on.

A Year 4 learner avoided practicing weekly spelling words, so the same mistakes resurfaced during class dictation.

One Year 7 student faced ongoing challenges converting word problems into diagrams, losing focus mid-task and requiring multiple reminders to return attention to problem-solving.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Bentley noticed one Year 11 student who used to hesitate with balancing ionic equations now talks through each step aloud and manages most problems independently.

Another high schooler, previously unsure about forming linear equations, has started solving for 'c' and graphing inequalities without prompting—she even asked for extra questions last session.

In a Year 4 session, a student who would get distracted during math tasks stayed focused throughout and answered all mental calculation questions quickly, showing much more patience than before.

What they say about our tutoring

Thank you. The tutoring is working quite well at the moment, Paige is understanding more of her maths thanks to Chirags explanations.

I am very happy with my daughters tutor Surya, firstly he is very well manned , he is very good with explaining different methods for Patti to better understand .

All is going well so far with Orson tutoring Rachel. She is enjoying her lessons. Thanks.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Cannington Public Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Santa Clara School.
