The most valuable duty of a tutor is to focus on the holistic development of a student, allowing them to be persistent, independent and problem-solving to tackle any academic or life challenge. My strengths are my simplistic and analogy-based approach to explaining concepts, and my emphasis on exam technique that allows students to feel…

To tailor the tutoring according to the students needs is the most important thing for me since finding the learning style of each student helps solve learning difficulties. To be prepared for a lesson with prior knowledge and to be considerate would additionally be very useful. I have high achievement in Mathematics, Business studies, Geography…

No matter which subject the student is learning, s/he needs to know why s/he needs to learn it. Recently, Diane Tavenner, the innovator of American education encourages students to learn whatever they want by asking them to solve problem by themselves. In the field of applied linguistics, we call it 'boost input by producing output'. I believe…

Help them understand the concept in class. Teaching them how to do question is not enough, instead teaching them how it work and how to deal with it basic. Because I studied as a student like them I really know how to learn it well. I am a student studying in university, I have experiences to share with them and do my…

To engage their student in what they are being taught. Often, it is easy for tutors to treat teaching as a rote-memory recitation of their materials, without actually using other analogies and connective methods that students benefit from. If a tutor is unwilling to invest energy into their lessons, a student likewise will gain little enrichment.…

The most important things I can do for a student is to be flexible, patient and to have a friendly, trustworthy image. This helps to build a relationship so that the student will be able to tell me their real hardships in the process of learning, so that I can find suitable studying methods to the students’ characteristics, making it easier and…

I think the most important things a tutor can do is to build the student's confidence. Sometimes students may feel afraid to make mistakes even though in fact they know more than they think. A tutor should also keep encouraging the students to keep going even when it's tough. I think one of my strengths is being patient. I don't mind explaining…

In my view-point a tutor can highlight the problems of students and demosntrate other suitable methods to solve their issues and broaden their perspective. My goal is to determine the student's weakness and strengths, and through this help them reach their goal. Depending on the students, I will differentiate instructions to support the distinctive…

As a tutor's job is to be supplementary to a students learning, the most vital role a tutor can fulfill is to be sympathetic and understanding to a student's situation, and to be adaptive in the way they assist the student in order to maximise their potential. What I consider to be the most important things a tutor can do for a student are build self-confidence, without this they will not believe in themselves and their ability, and therefore will not make the improvements they are capable of, inspire them to create their own goals, both long-term and short term, big and small, and of course, help…

I think the most important things a tutor can do are to build confidence, create a supportive learning environment, and make learning fun. It's all about helping students believe in themselves, giving them the tools to succeed, and keeping things engaging. I'm good at breaking down complex stuff into easy-to-understand pieces. I'm also patient and…

The most important thing that a tutor must do is form a genuine connection with the student based on trust and integrity. This can be achieved through humour, motivation and sharing likes/dislikes. This allows for long-term teaching because of a comfortable environment allowing the student to perform to the best of their ability. My questioning…

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is tutoring them not only to make them get the answer, but helping them to understand about the material and helping them to have a good study habit. Inside BexleyTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 9 student William focused on index laws and scientific notation, then practiced probability questions using examples from Chapter 2.

A Year 11 student, Emily, worked through HSC exam paper problems covering normal distribution and financial mathematics, as well as finding roots of quadratic equations with applications in geometry.

Meanwhile, Year 8 student Olivia strengthened her understanding of angle theory—especially with parallel lines and triangles—and reviewed plotting straight line graphs on the Cartesian plane.

Recent Challenges

A Year 11 student often avoided writing full working in algebra and calculus, saying "I know the answer," but missing steps led to calculation slips—especially under exam pressure.

In Year 9, a lack of organisation with formulae meant that when solving geometry problems, the correct method was known but not set out clearly on paper.

For a Year 5 learner, motivation dropped after returning from a long holiday; homework was incomplete and key multiplication facts had to be re-taught during sessions.

These habits left students spending valuable lesson time retracing steps or relearning rather than building new skills.

Recent Achievements

A Bexley tutor noticed Milo, a Year 12 student, had previously found financial maths and normal distribution formulas challenging but now solves related problems independently and accurately.

Benjamin, in high school as well, initially hesitated with square roots; after working through the concept step by step, he managed to solve equations and factorise expressions without needing prompts.

Meanwhile, Jessica in Year 5 used to struggle with fractions—she would guess answers instead of showing her process—but recently completed her homework almost error-free, checking her own work before asking for feedback.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Bexley Branch Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Bexley Public School.
