I believe the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to build a rapport of the student so that each lesson will be created based on the needs and requirements of the student and on what they need to focus on, i.e their weak points. I think my strength as a tutor is that I am able to build a good rapport for all of my students and be…

As required a tutor should also be a mentor and counsellor and provide students with an atmosphere conducive to developing strong learning skills. I am compassionate , patient and understanding. active communication will enable the tutor to understand the student's issues, strengths, weaknesses, and effectively plan the lessons for student's need. In addition to that, a clear and simplified explanation of subjects will not only enable understanding of the topic, but also could develop an interest of the subject in the student. Once the…

A tutor should have the ability to share information in a way that others will learn, grasp the concepts, understand the input. A tutor should be able to know strengths and weakness of a student. A extra paper work is required by tutor for better performance of a student. A regular assessment of student to enhance his performance. A tutor should…

If the student is seeking a tutor, most likely their own school teacher isn't enough. Hence, as a tutor, the extra help they sought, needs to seek better ways to help the student improve. I consider exploring the right way to teach each student, is most important. I like to think I'm patient and approachable. I'm not a strict school teacher, but a…

The most important things a tutor can do for a student are to listen to them to gauge their level of knowledge and interest in a subject, then to offer motivation and positive reinforcement. This gives the student the confidence to help 'drive' the learning process, with the tutor guiding that process by offering information, skills and…

I believe that the most important thing a tutor can do for their student is to approach topics that the student is finding difficult differently. When approaching the topic differently it can aid the student in seeing it from a different angle and which way they learn best. a tutor has to understand how their students think. because every student has different thinking and level of understanding for one question. by knowing that, we can easily help students understand that question well. however, we need to teach by imagining that we are the students. so, we need to be patient and efficient to reach their…

Tutors need to be patient, not every student is equally as smart, or equally as attentive. You have to find a balance. A great example I think would be is planting a seed. After you put the seed in the ground, you can put all the water in the world, but it's not gonna grow into a tree in just one day, just like a student, you will break the…

Guidance is the most important thing. First, I would show the student how to solve the question. After that, I will guide them to solve one or two questions and let them have a try after that to make sure the student can fully understand the procedure and solve the question on their own. Of course, I will encourage them to ask the question if they…

A tutor can build a child's confidence, boost them to achieve higher. Help them to ask questions because they will learn from that. Furthermore if it is hard for a student to understand something, a tutor should try a different approach so that the student understands better. The tutor should come up with new learning strategies. As a tutor the…

I think to be able to cater to each sutdent individually is the most important thing a tutor can do. Each student learns and processes information differently. Provide resources and methods of approaching problems, and also provide constant support and guidance when they are troubled by a topic. Inside Bibra LakeTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 8 student Aiden worked on analysing poetic techniques such as alliteration and assonance within set class poems, and practised interpreting themes in Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening.

In Year 10, Tom focused on applying simultaneous equations to textbook problems and reviewed angles and bearings based on current classwork.

For Year 11, Harry tackled normal distributions and probability calculations using assignment questions, along with revising core concepts from recent assessments.

Recent Challenges

In Year 10 English, a student struggled to plan and complete body paragraphs ahead of assessment deadlines—one note read, "should've finished at least one of the body paragraphs as the assessment is due in only a few days."

In Year 8 Maths, another repeatedly avoided writing out working on paper, relying instead on mental calculation; this made it hard to spot where errors crept in.

Organization emerged as a challenge for a Year 11 student who was unaware of upcoming test dates and lost key notes needed for revision.

Missed planning steps or incomplete preparation often left them feeling behind during lessons.

Recent Achievements

One Bibra Lake tutor noticed that a Year 11 student, Harry, has shifted from just plugging numbers into his calculator to wanting to understand the "why" behind each maths process—he now checks over his answers and identifies errors himself.

In English, Aiden (Year 9) has moved beyond surface-level reading; he's started drawing creative inferences from texts and can now break down tricky literary techniques on the spot—last week he wrote an original metaphor for a messy park without prompting.

Meanwhile, Tom (Year 6), who used to rush through problems, is pausing to talk out loud about questions and writing out his thought process as he solves them.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Coolbellup Public Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Bibra Lake Primary School.
