Understand them. I must understand where the child's mistakes root from, how they got there and how I could re-explain the concept so that the child would understand it with ease. The next most important thing would be patience as it takes time and making mistakes to learn and become better at something. I believe I am very patient, hard working…

Inside BidwillTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 8 student Sofia focused on solving inequalities and understanding gradients in linear equations, using practice problems to reinforce each step.

For Year 11, Omar reviewed non-linear equations for an upcoming exam by tackling challenging worksheet questions, then shifted to English to develop ideas for a discursive essay based on scenes from "Pleasantville."

Meanwhile, Year 4 student Saanvi practiced double-digit addition and subtraction and was tested on her 9 and 12 times tables, with extra reading from "Danny's Dollars" to support comprehension skills.

Recent Challenges

Several high school students struggled with organization and written clarity.

In Year 9 algebra, one student's layout was flagged: "needs to show working out," making it difficult to spot errors when expanding and simplifying expressions.

A Year 11 student preparing for trigonometry with obtuse angles often avoided revisiting past mistakes—this meant minor errors persisted through revision, especially in exam settings.

At the primary level, a Year 3 student faced confusion adding numbers to zero; as noted, "the lack of understanding makes it difficult to add numbers to 0."

The impact is visible: lost marks and time spent retracing steps instead of building new skills.

Recent Achievements

One Bidwill tutor noticed a Year 10 student who used to guess quietly during algebra sessions now pausing to ask clarifying questions when stuck—something he never did before.

In senior maths, another high schooler who'd previously needed constant hints with network concepts recently completed an entire assignment independently without outside help.

For a younger student, reading fluency took a leap: she not only read "The Hungry Caterpillar" aloud but started sounding out unfamiliar words herself, rather than waiting for prompts from the tutor.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

As a tutor, I found Ezy Math tutoring to be absolutely excellent. It was so convenient to be matched with students in my local area. The training modules were both interesting and useful, and it really made me think about what I could do to provide the best possible tutoring service.

I believe my biggest accomplishment has been to raise the grades of my students from the average levels to the above-average, since it reflects the fact that all students have the potential for great talent with hard work and practice. I came to work with Ezy Math Tutoring to pass on the positive experience that comes from having a good tutor in a challenging subject. From my experience, I re-learned how to teach others ideas, concepts and facts through various established and self-made techniques, which I can apply to my own studies with my fellows and peers. I also got into the discipline of keeping reports, records and other documentation, an important skill for any career. Having uni students as tutors allows for a more recent and up-to-date understanding of school-level subjects, as well as a greater understanding of the challenges involved and strategies to beat them. I would recommend Ezy Math Tutoring to uni students who want to keep their maths skills sharp, enhance some valuable skills, and earn some pocket money as well.

Our son lacked confidence when tackling maths subject matter and in doing the associated homework. We contacted Ezymath Tutoring, who quickly found us a tutor  who worked well with our son. As the sessions continued, our son gained knowledge and confidence in the subject matter, improved his study technique as well and ultimately got a satisfactory result in his year 12 exam.  We would recommend Ezymath Tutoring to any parent looking for assistance in their child's maths education. The tutoring is backed up with helpful hints and reference material  as an added bonus.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Mt Druitt Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Bidwill Public School.
