The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is give them the confidence to excel independently, without them, following the guidance they provide. I believe I am friendly, approachable and can teach in a way that is simple for the student to understand. I also see myself as honest and reliable, allowing students and parents alike to…

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to make them more interested even in the hardest topics. Turning the lessons into fun is the key. That ignites the students' mind in a very effective manner. My strong point is that I always try to find out the weak points of the students because then only I will be able to clarify their…

I believe one of the most important things a tutor can do for a student is be patient. If they are struggling to understand a subject, they are going to get more frustrated the longer it takes for them to grasp. I believe that it is exacerbated by the class moving on to another topic before the student is ready, and it is our job to work with them…

Tutoring is a noble occupation. My experience with the previous tutoring has taught me many things that can be really important for a student. Some students tend to trigger their fear of…

Truly the most important thing any tutor can do for a student is to help create and cultivate a growth mindset. By doing this, students become lifelong, innovative learners. This certainly occurs in the classroom, but teachers are expected to do this to upwards of 20+ children. Tutors are important to students because they assist in expanding…

Inside Biggera WatersTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 4 student Sophie worked on time conversions, including interpreting time zones, and practiced applying ratios to real-world problems.

For Year 9, Riley focused on trigonometry basics—using sine, cosine, and tangent to solve right-angled triangle questions—and reviewed area and perimeter of composite shapes with guided examples.

Meanwhile, Suneha in Year 11 tackled advanced calculus concepts such as finding derivatives and applied these skills to sketching graphs of functions and identifying gradients.

Recent Challenges

A Year 8 student missed completing set algebra and ratios homework, which limited opportunities to reinforce multiplication and division skills—"he hasn't done the homework I gave on 10th."

In Year 10 trigonometry, another student skipped writing out equations, relying instead on mental calculations; this led to sign errors and lost marks.

A Year 11 learner struggled with time management in a practice test, leaving questions unfinished despite available minutes.

For a Year 7 geometry task, messy working and failure to show steps made it hard to catch mistakes during review, causing frustration when errors went undetected until correction time.

Recent Achievements

One Biggera Waters tutor observed a notable shift with a Year 10 student who used to stay quiet during sessions; now, he talks through his problem-solving steps out loud and asks for help when stuck, instead of just guessing.

A Year 12 student recently mastered analysing time series data—she's now able to interpret patterns independently after previously hesitating with this type of analysis.

In primary, one Year 5 learner initially struggled with basic time conversions but, after a few examples, began solving problems alone and even explained her reasoning as she worked through the questions herself.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

I applied to work at Ezy Math Tutoring because I was looking for a job that could give me teaching experience. Not only do Ezy Math provide this through the tutoring but they also give ongoing tutor learning modules to keep you thinking about different aspects of your tutoring and to help you keep improving as a tutor. They are dedicated to ensuring that their tutors are constantly improving and this is fantastic for both the tutor and the client! I appreciate the skills I have learned as my time as a tutor and am thankful for their support that they give me.

Working with Ezymath has allowed me to develop my interpersonal skills through the interaction with different students and parents. Through tutoring, I have learnt to become more patient and understanding when it comes to other people's needs. I have also been able to improve my communication skills as well. My time at Ezymath tutoring has been a great learning experience, whereby I've had fun dealing with different students. Ezymath has been very flexible and accommodating in regards to my tutoring employment.

The biggest accomplishment while working with EzyMath? / What was gained from the tutoring experience? This would have to be the week to week and month to month satisfaction of developing a relationship with a student and the satisfaction in seeing their confidence as well as their marks ever-increasing. It's gratifying to be able to quantify the effort both the student and the tutor have dedicated to building a mathematical foundation for years to come. The marks don't lie! The fact that EzyMath selects students within a 10-15 minute drive is a bonus, and the access to materials and a forum for asking questions is supportive for those starting out in the area of education.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Runaway Bay Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Biggera Waters State School.
