You can inspire a student and make him independent. The goal of a teacher (ironically) is to make himself redundant. Being able to develop self-learning skills and teaching oneself by asking right questions is the key process of learning. Eventually, you can master the art of learning itself and you don't need a teacher. I can be very friendly and…

To be attentive and to address the students personal needs for growth. The tutor should set an ideal example in terms of behaviour motivation and actions- one which a student should be able to look up to but also resonate with. This allows him to engage with the student at a personal level and provide better more relatable academic support, but…

Explain. If a physics tutor can explain a concept in a way a student can understand and then is able to remember it and be able to apply it, the tutor has succeeded in his role. Also being able to listen to students, as a tutor should be able to find small mistakes and correct them as questions require perfection to some degree to achieve maximum…

The most important thing a physics tutor can do for their students is to foster a love for learning. When a tutor instills a genuine curiosity and passion for acquiring knowledge, it becomes a lifelong gift that goes beyond specific subjects or exams. By nurturing this love for learning, tutors empower their students to become self-motivated,…

The most important thing a physics tutor can do for their student is ensure the student understands the content, and doesn't just get the marks if they don't understand the content properly. They also need to be someone who the student can feel comfortable talking to and asking questions, regardless of how 'silly' the question may seem. Good…

The important thing a physics tutor can do for a student is to not be the driver of the student's journey, but instead an instructor. Far too often students fall into the trap of memorisation. They lack the conceptual understanding, thus when given a question that does not perfectly coincide with their rules, they panic. I strongly believe that as a tutor, my goal is to motivate students to really grasp concepts and truly appreciate the ‘how’ and ‘why’ of a rule or…

A tutors primary task is to help the student with what they want to be helped with, and as a part of that accommodating to their individual needs and goals. Doing anything else would simply be disingenuous. It is worth noting further that accommodating to the student's needs in any way reasonable is quite close to the most important thing a tutor…

Inside BlacktownTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 4 student Josh worked on converting between fractions, decimals, and percentages as well as calculating GST and understanding price changes.

In Year 9, Chloe revised Pythagoras' theorem alongside practice with coordinate geometry—specifically finding midpoints and distances between points using diagrams.

Meanwhile, Year 11 student Abby tackled genetic technologies for an assessment task, breaking down the implications of gene therapy for Spinal Muscular Atrophy and clarifying the relationship between genotypes and phenotypes.

Recent Challenges

A Year 7 student arrived without a textbook or reference materials, making it difficult to engage fully with the lesson content.

In Year 9, one student struggled to keep up with classwork and admitted to not completing assignments on time—"he has not been keeping up with class work which is something we need to work on."

For a Year 11 Biology session, messy note-taking and trouble organizing research made revision harder; she often forgot definitions and key terms during review.

In senior years, difficulties in breaking down exam questions led to hesitation when answering under timed conditions.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Blacktown recently noticed some great progress with students across different year levels.

In Year 4 maths, Chloe had struggled to remember her times tables, but after steady practice, she could recall the 7 and 8 times tables from memory and applied them to fraction problems with much more ease than before.

At the high school level, Josh moved from needing step-by-step help to solving most trigonometry questions independently; last session he even corrected his own mistakes without prompting.

Meanwhile, Abby began structuring her biology assessment responses more clearly after learning to highlight key words for each dot point.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

Steven has been a wonderful and patient tutor and has really helped Thomas with his confidence in Mathematics and we have been grateful for his assistance during this time. We have been impressed by both the tutor and Ezy Maths Tutoring Company for the personalised service and would not hesitate to contact you in the near future should we need assistance with any tutoring next year.

So far so good. Scott has been great. He is exceptionally patient and really flexible at fitting in with our timetable.

. Ruby enjoyed the session and is very happy with Vibha, so we're off to a good start.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Lalor Park Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Patrician Brothers' College Blacktown.
