For me, one of the most important things a tutor can do for a student is interaction. As interactive the session will be, more output will one get from their students. I’ll try to become their friend rather than being a typical teacher. Homework and self study will be two of the key tasks of the session. One of my biggest strength as a tutor is…

The most important things a tutor can do for a student is to make them feel comfortable to communicate with. Communication is key for a student's success, if they don't know how to do certain things, they can ask the tutor. Sometimes the tutor does not always know the answer, but the tutor is seen as a reliable source so whichever information the…

A student will need a tutor because he/she couldn't understand what was being taught in class. The best thing for a tutor to do is focus on the parts that the student failed to understand and strengthen their understanding in those areas. I strongly believe in the idea behind the saying, teach a person how to fish, and you feed them for a lifetime. A role of tutor is to clear the concepts of student individually that they have studied during class. A tutor is there to guide students by making them realise their mistakes and later by explaining and solving the topics. And for that tutor should know his students first. My daughter has constantly struggled with maths and has had 2 Ezymaths tutors. Both have been fantastic in helping to teach her the fundamentals and to build her self confidence in maths, which given how terrible I was with maths was impossible to do myself. I think I just made things worse. I would certainly recommend Ezymath tutors to anyone. Well worth the investment. Regards Trent

Inside Blair AtholTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 10 student James revised for an upcoming **differential calculus test** by drawing sign diagrams for derivatives and finding equations of tangents to curves at given points.

A Year 12 student worked through the **chain rule and product rule in differentiation**, tackling a variety of exam-style questions to solidify understanding.

Meanwhile, Year 8 student Alex practised solving linear equations and graphing straight lines, focusing on interpreting **slope and y-intercept** from both algebraic forms and graphs.

Recent Challenges

A Year 12 student struggled with test timing—"if he masters this at the start of year 12, he will be ahead," noted a tutor after observing rushed solutions in calculus.

In Year 10, one student's working was crowded and hard to track; errors became harder to spot without clearer spacing between steps.

A Year 8 learner found it difficult to recall earlier algebra lessons, needing frequent review of summary sheets.

Another senior needed help "remembering trigonometric identities" but hesitated to label diagrams, which slowed progress on non-calculator tasks and left them searching for connections mid-question.

Recent Achievements

One Blair Athol tutor noticed a Year 11 student who previously hesitated to show working now lays out each step clearly, which helps him spot and fix mistakes himself.

A Year 8 learner, after struggling with fractions, can now confidently find lowest common multiples and perform operations with different denominators without pausing for help.

Meanwhile, a primary student who used to guess when asked about prime numbers is now using continuous division accurately to identify primes and explain her reasoning out loud. Last session, she distinguished between three tricky numbers in a row using this method.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Enfield Public Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like St Paul Lutheran School.
