To understand how the child learns, and what they respond to best. As a teacher in a classroom may not be giving them the attention or understanding they require. I believe communication is my strongest strength, as my ability to communicate ideas and encourage children to do the same is corner stone to successful…

The confidence to attempt and solve increasingly complex problems independently. The ability of a tutor to impart an understanding of the foundations is the most important thing a tutor can do. Ability to breakdown more complex problems into manageable sections thus enabling the student to apply and practice the solving process rather then…

Being a medical student, I value how education builds an individual. Having the right mentors and teachers during one's educational journey can either make or break them. Students look up to their mentors and tutors for various reasons. Students already interact with teachers at school, so they require a friend who understands their problems and…

I believe that in order for anyone to understand the material being taught - the tutor must begin with the fundamentals and basics; breaking down the information and then ensuring the student is able to explain it back is what I believe works best. This requires patience, which I believe is an essential quality a tutor must maintain in order for…

Making the subject easier than it was so they can understand easily. Rather than remembering things, understanding things in the right way is the best approach. I can make the students understand the idea behind the concepts. I use simple concepts to make the students understand the subject. Then develop the complexity of questions by making them…

In my opinion, it's most important to help students to understand basic concepts and theories when tutoring them. With these knowledge, students will have confidence to overcome problems and hardness in Maths by themselves. For the past two years, I have tutored several students in Physics and Maths, especially Math Methods year 11 and 12.…

First of all, the tutor must believe in the student’s capabilities. The most important thing then is to be patient and thorough, and build a trusting relationship to allow the student to come to you with questions. I am patient and find simplistic ways to explain things according to the student’s way of thinking. I take the time to ensure that…

Make sure that you're not doing the work for them, only assisting them in their learning- For it will be them sitting the exam come the end of the year. I believe the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to teach them how to teach themselves. Instead of spoon-feeding students the answers to specific questions, a good tutor helps students understand how to think to devise a solution for any problem they encounter. Being only 18 years old and currently in Year 12, I thoroughly…

A tutor can certainly change a child's mindset towards any subject because it all depends on making the basics of a subject strong so that there is no further problem. i must mention that I personally believe that there is no such thing as a silly question, so whatever doubts a student might face even if he assumes it to be silly, I am always…

A tutor should be patient and never say something is easy. I believe it is most important for a tutor to tailor their teaching according to the needs of their student. Many students learn in different ways such as visual or through different compounding activities to build a strong foundation before moving on to more difficult concepts. I believe being able to teach a student in the way that is most…

My daughter has constantly struggled with maths and has had 2 Ezymaths tutors. Both have been fantastic in helping to teach her the fundamentals and to build her self confidence in maths, which given how terrible I was with maths was impossible to do myself. I think I just made things worse. I would certainly recommend Ezymath tutors to anyone. Well worth the investment. Regards Trent

Inside Blair AtholTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 10 student James revised for an upcoming **differential calculus test** by drawing sign diagrams for derivatives and finding equations of tangents to curves at given points.

A Year 12 student worked through the **chain rule and product rule in differentiation**, tackling a variety of exam-style questions to solidify understanding.

Meanwhile, Year 8 student Alex practised solving linear equations and graphing straight lines, focusing on interpreting **slope and y-intercept** from both algebraic forms and graphs.

Recent Challenges

A Year 12 student struggled with test timing—"if he masters this at the start of year 12, he will be ahead," noted a tutor after observing rushed solutions in calculus.

In Year 10, one student's working was crowded and hard to track; errors became harder to spot without clearer spacing between steps.

A Year 8 learner found it difficult to recall earlier algebra lessons, needing frequent review of summary sheets.

Another senior needed help "remembering trigonometric identities" but hesitated to label diagrams, which slowed progress on non-calculator tasks and left them searching for connections mid-question.

Recent Achievements

One Blair Athol tutor noticed a Year 11 student who previously hesitated to show working now lays out each step clearly, which helps him spot and fix mistakes himself.

A Year 8 learner, after struggling with fractions, can now confidently find lowest common multiples and perform operations with different denominators without pausing for help.

Meanwhile, a primary student who used to guess when asked about prime numbers is now using continuous division accurately to identify primes and explain her reasoning out loud. Last session, she distinguished between three tricky numbers in a row using this method.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Enfield Public Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like St Paul Lutheran School.
