Inside Bossley ParkTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 9 student Emily worked on coordinate geometry, focusing on the distance and midpoint formulas as well as finding gradients and equations of straight lines using both algebraic methods and graph interpretation.

For Year 11, Dhyani concentrated on legal studies by reviewing contemporary sources of Australian law and exploring Aboriginal Customary Laws through discussion and multiple-choice questions.

Meanwhile, Year 6 student Daniel revised how to find the highest common factor in algebra equations and practiced simplifying fractions for confidence with foundational skills.

Recent Challenges

In Year 8 Maths, one student did not complete the set homework, which limited her ability to recall indices and trigonometry methods during revision. As noted, "she tends to forget the steps when completing a question after she does them," highlighting a need for regular at-home practice.

In Year 6 English, another struggled with vocabulary range and sentence structure—missing opportunities to apply more sophisticated language in written tasks.

A Year 10 learner became distracted during lessons and was sometimes late; this meant new content (like straight line formulas) had to be retaught rather than built upon, slowing overall progress.

Recent Achievements

One Bossley Park tutor noticed a high school student who used to hesitate when stuck on math questions now regularly asks for help and even explains her reasoning back to the tutor—especially with tricky trigonometry problems she struggled with last term.

In another session, a senior student in Legal Studies took the initiative to research relevant cases herself and brought personal insights into class discussion, a big shift from previously relying on the tutor's explanations alone.

Meanwhile, an upper primary student made a leap in times tables recall after weeks of struggling, finishing her practice set entirely without prompts for the first time.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

So far so good, Nicole is doing a lot better and Nidhi seems to be a great help.

Thank you for your email received today. I am very pleased to report that we are very impressed with Minh and his approach to tutoring our son. Minh is a very responsible and passionate teacher, we feel his enthusiasm will promote Elijah-Taye to the required level in a reasonable time frame.

Thank you for your follow up.  Ty is progressing well and we are all happy with the way things are going (mum, dad and Ty).  Apart from the normal issues, that sometimes he just 'doesn't feel like it' at the beginning of the session, he enjoys the tutoring and is gaining benefits already.  Though Ty has always had quite a good understanding of Maths, the idea of tutoring was to keep him at his best.  He was complaining of not understanding his teacher this year, so the different ways of thinking and and ways of teaching are definitely helping. I am happy with Sheetal and his dedication to his tutoring, even ringing Ty to check his progress before an assessment.  This is not something that I was expecting, but is a welcome addition as I see it helping Ty keep focused as well.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Wetherill Park Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Prairievale Public School.
