I believe the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to give them confidence. In my experience most students had the intrinsic abilities to do well at their studies but faltered due to perceived nervousness and pressure. It is hugely important to show the students that you believe in their abilities and that there is no problem that…

The most important things are to give students support in the way that they need it. Tutors should always be there to answer students’ questions with respect and patience, and cultivate an opening environment where students are not afraid to say that they don’t understand something. I only recently completed VCE, so the high school curriculum…

I think to provide a larger framework or paradigm for what they are learning. When something fits into a context for "why" they are learning a concept. Mainly being able to listen to the student. The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to be flexible to the students individual needs. I think its most important for a tutor to ensure that they are engaging with the student and allowing the student to solve any problem by themselves. Inside Botanic RidgeTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 7 student Sarah worked on TEEL paragraph structure for English essays and reviewed expectations for Year 7 content, using sample texts to build confidence.

For Year 10, Daniel focused on two-variable statistics and interpreting R values from Chapter 7, also tackling related textbook exercises.

Meanwhile, a Year 11 student completed revision across all SAC topics with special attention to the use of CAS calculators for solving advanced problems in preparation for upcoming assessments.

Recent Challenges

A Year 4 student was reminded repeatedly to write down all working, as skipping this made it hard to catch errors in multiplication problems.

In Year 8 English, incomplete homework slowed progress; "She needs to finish the odd-numbered exercises before next lesson," one tutor noted.

A Year 10 student over-relied on her calculator during algebra revision, attempting more questions only when given this aid.

For VCE (Year 12), missing the creation of a bound reference meant weaker SAC and exam preparation.

After setbacks in trigonometry, one senior lost confidence and hesitated to attempt unfamiliar practice tasks alone.

Recent Achievements

One Botanic Ridge tutor noticed a Year 10 student, Ishan, who previously struggled to organise his ideas, confidently wrote a full TEEL paragraph and identified visual imagery from complex descriptions during English.

In a recent high school maths session, another student made just one error out of fifty questions after consistently reviewing and correcting past mistakes—a big shift from earlier sessions where errors often went unchecked.

Meanwhile, a Year 6 student who used to stay quiet now actively asks for help when unsure instead of guessing, finishing her latest homework without needing reminders.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

My daughter is a fantastic reader but her maths was awful. We just couldn't get through to her even her school teachers gave up on her. I needed a professional to sit with her one on one at my convenience  and at a good price. Ezymath tutoring did all that for me, they were fantastic, the teacher we had was so patient with Chloe and they both got on really well. But more importantly Chloe now has a better understanding of numbers, we couldn't be more happy and would recommend them to anyone who wants to improve on their maths

So far its going really well with Monique.  She is very nice, approachable, flexible and encouraging

Yes l'm happy at the moment and Sebastian seems to like Kate. She comes and gets straight into it then finishes off with a brief summary of what they have been doing. Which is great. At the moment Sebastian has only had three sessions, so still too early to tell. However there was a day at school when they did some Maths and he said he found it much easier, which is fantastic to hear.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Cranbourne Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Cranbourne South Primary School.
