Most students end up investing in a tutor as they have not been taught the skills to synthesise concepts and study themselves. My aim as a tutor is to inspire students to be independent learners by providing them with the supplies, support, and motivation to continue what they have learned by themselves at home. Tutoring only occurs for a short…

I think a tutor has a lot of power in empowering a student and making them love learning and love the subject. If a tutor can reorient a student's perspective of a certain topic and make the student learn it, it enables the student to engage more with the subject and hopefully increases their passion for learning and education in general which I…

Obviously bumping up grades. But before that comes there is the massive component where the tutor is able to let the student feel like they actually know what they're doing. Instilling confidence in someone and helping them to not feel dumb can change the way they approach learning and improve everything about their academic life. Coming from…

Patience Tolerance Passion Positivity Encouragement Ability to teach the same concept in multiple ways I think my strengths would include a passion for wanting to help others as well as a high degree of knowledge in the areas I have selected. I also think I am pretty tolerant with a fair degree of patience for people coming from a wide range of…

PDHPE Tutor Highland Park, QLD
One of the most important things a tutor can do for the student is to be flexible in their teaching methods and approaches to learning/teaching content as there are so many different learning styles out there and they are there with us because they may be having trouble with the teaching methods used at school. In those cases in particular, it's…

Inside BroadbeachTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 6 student Milly worked on understanding outliers and calculating mean, median, mode, and range using practical examples and visual explanation sheets.

Year 8 student Jamie focused on frequency tables—learning to construct them from scratch, including cumulative frequency, and practiced applying these skills in preparation for an assignment.

For a senior student in Year 10, Alex tackled substitution techniques in algebra, working through step-by-step examples and building a reference summary sheet to reinforce the process for future homework.

Recent Challenges

A Year 10 student tackling algebra and chapter reviews often struggled to organize what needed attention, leading to confusion about which topics required help; as one tutor noted, "she didn't know how to do the topics covered" until the review was broken down together.

In Year 11 Chemistry, a student repeatedly avoided memorizing key formulas and charges for cations/anions—hesitating on worksheets when balancing equations became more complex.

Meanwhile, a Year 7 student skipped setting out working in maths quizzes, making it easy to mix up steps or lose marks on otherwise understood questions. This led to unnecessary stress during tests.

Recent Achievements

One Broadbeach tutor noticed a big shift in a Year 9 student who used to rush through maths problems and make mistakes; now, he slows down and shows all his working before moving on.

A Year 11 learner recently tackled factorising in algebra—she'd struggled with the steps last term but can now identify which process to use and works through questions independently.

In a recent Year 5 session, a student who found multiplication confusing at first was able to explain her reasoning out loud while splitting double-digit division into manageable pieces.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

I just wanted to thank you and my son's tutor, Faraz, for all of your work with him over the last couple of months. I have found Aiden to be much calmer and more focused about the subject since Faraz started tutoring him, which has been fantastic. Aiden found Faraz extremely helpful in guiding his revision and assisting him with the components that he was struggling with.

It seems Gillian is really benefiting greatly from the tutoring and I must say that Joyce is a super star! She has somehow turned Gillian 180 degrees in her attitude to maths.

Lee has been terrific for Harry. He has helped Harry develop confidence and knowledge in Maths that certainly wasn't there at the start of the year. And the results Harry is achieving at school are outstanding. Thank you.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Broadbeach Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Broadbeach State School.
