In my opinion successful tutors build strong, personal relationships with their students. Also tutors listen and communicate early and often with parents and teachers. I am the type pf person who is willing to put as much as effort as possible to get the student satisfactory grades. I am also kind and doesn't get furstrated when…

Listen to the students and understand what the actual issue is. More often than not it's not the concept itself but how the student is processing the concept, and if you don't see that you'll only be able to help them understand through repetition. My ability to tailor lessons to a students needs and study styles. I enjoy working with both…

I believe that every child is unique. But as they grow older, their creative confidence is lost. Everything can be transformed if we can transform the brain and recreate those neural connections which will bring back creative intuition in your life. I try to curate experiential transformation learning in my teachings to bring back creative…

I believe the most important thing for a tutor is to listen to and understand their student's weaknesses and strengths. Often I find many people lack personalisation and simply follow the curriculum. I like to take a different approach where I really personalise my teaching depending on the student's capabilities and learning style. I also find…

For me, the most important thing a tutor can do is help a student build confidence in themselves. Once they feel supported and encouraged, they are much more open to learning. A tutor should also guide students toward becoming independent learners by showing them strategies for problem solving and critical thinking, so they feel prepared to face…

I think a tutor should help build on students’ current thought processes and methods through asking them how they’d first approach a challenging question and their next steps using the given information. This is because when people are stressed they resort to what they know best. As such, in test conditions students will be less likely to…

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is help them believe in themselves. Academic support is important, but confidence is what truly changes everything. When a student feels seen, heard, and supported, they start to trust their own ability to learn and grow. A great tutor doesn’t just explain concepts they create a safe space…

Being able to formulate different approaches on the go is something a tutor should be able to do in order for the students to understand at their own pace. A tutor should also be patient in order to make the student feel welcomed whenever they are in a predicament academically. Other than that, a tutor should be friendly so the students feel…

The most important things a tutor can do for a student is have an interest in the topic themselves. An interested tutor increases the interest of the students meaning the student has more of an incentive to study and invest their time in a subject. Inside BrooklynTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 7 student Vincent reviewed mixed numbers, area and volume, percentages, ratios, and introductory algebra while also practising reading comprehension and grammar.

In Year 10, Daniel worked on graphing linear inequalities and representing them visually, alongside simplifying expressions in algebra.

For Year 11, Alyssa focused on completing the square for quadratics as well as exploring the Sine Rule and Cosine Rule in trigonometry using step-by-step problem sets.

Recent Challenges

A Year 9 student often arrived without their class notes or required materials, which made it hard to bridge knowledge gaps—significant gaps in their knowledge that will require further study.

In Year 11 Chemistry, one student missed several weeks due to injury and needed intensive test preparation; this left little time for developing independent revision habits.

For a Year 7 learner, skipping careful reading of worded maths problems meant solutions were sometimes off-target.

Meanwhile, a senior student working on trigonometry lacked confidence with unit circle values and hesitated to attempt questions without reference aids. This slowed progress during practice tests.

Recent Achievements

One Brooklyn tutor noted a Year 10 student who had previously relied on hints is now independently spotting and correcting their own algebra mistakes during sessions.

A recent high school chemistry lesson saw a student, who used to mix up empirical and molecular formulas, clearly explain the difference between them without prompting.

Meanwhile, in primary years, a Year 4 learner who would often guess answers now confidently asks for help when stuck—showing they're comfortable voicing what they don't understand.

Last session, that same student finished all ten questions without skipping any or giving up.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

My daughter and I are both very happy with Thibault. She has only had one session with him but said he was good at explaining and he was able to answer her questions. He was also encouraging, punctual and very polite. We are very happy to continue with him.

Gagan is a wonderful tutor and I would be very happy with her coming back next year.

Both Natalia and Kiara are very happy with Abigail and things are starting off really great.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Yarraville Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Annunciation School.
