Education can be extremely enjoyable but, understandably, if students cannot grasp concepts and ideas, they quickly lose interest. I believe the most important thing a chemistry tutor can do is to show their students that learning can actually be fun by teaching them about new ways of thinking. This, in turn, would help them engage in the content…

I believe that a chemistry tutor should understand that students have different ways of the studying that actually help them in their studies, and they should be able to adapt and prepare new ways of teaching that is most valuable to students. I think a chemistry tutor should help build on students’ current thought processes and methods through asking them how they’d first approach a challenging question and their next steps using the given information. This is because when people are stressed they resort to what they know best. As such, in test conditions students will be less…

pathetic: Understands what it’s like to be a student who may lack confidence, feel stressed, be overwhelmed or just not understand the material. Honest: Don’t hesitate to say that you do not know about a particular concept. Trying to bluff your way through will only hurt the student and your reputation in the long run. Enthusiastic:…

Inside CairnleaTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 7 student Taj focused on probability concepts and practiced multiplication timetables for fluency.

For Year 8, Aashi worked through scientific notation and indices, then tackled practice with multiplying decimals to address past difficulties.

Meanwhile, Year 9 student Jason reviewed algebraic expressions and solved worded questions involving variables and equations, using real-life examples for context.

Recent Challenges

In Year 8 Maths, homework was often left incomplete, especially with chapter revision and annotating articles—this meant gaps persisted in key skills like probability.

One Year 10 student repeatedly avoided showing full working when expanding algebraic expressions; as a tutor noted, "she tried to do too much in her head and missed sign errors."

In English for Year 6, a lack of planning caused him to get stuck on what each paragraph should say, leading to frustration mid-essay.

After setbacks on worded questions in Year 11 Maths, one student lost confidence and hesitated to attempt problems without heavy guidance.

Recent Achievements

One Cairnlea tutor recently noticed a Year 9 student who had previously struggled with algebraic expressions now working through expansion questions independently, applying each step without prompting.

A Year 7 learner who used to stay quiet during sessions has started speaking up about which maths concepts feel tricky and is now quick to ask for help when needed.

In primary, a student who was often hesitant about reading comprehension began summarising passages aloud and identifying key details by herself—she finished her latest story plan with all the main points mapped out in her own words.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

Thank you for touching base. I am really impressed with William's efforts to date. He has very quickly worked out Layla's weaknesses and the areas that need attention. I also believe that his strategy of working slightly ahead of schedule and thus getting her 'in front' in some areas will help with her confidence in class. Layla is also receiving additional Maths support in school and combined with William's efforts, I am confident that we should see her Maths results improve.

Very happy with John.  Would like Jackson to have more lessons with him but can't get Jackson to agree to it as yet!  Working on him.  May ask John to help out with science and possibly English as well in the future if he has time.

Ezy maths tutoring was just what we were after for Zena. We tried a couple of other tutoring companies before ezy maths tutoring but one we had to travel to to get there and the other offered us a young and inexperienced tutor, tutoring is more than knowing about the subject it is being able to teach it. Ezy maths tutoring offered us with everything we were looking for, reasonable pricing, at home tutoring and of course an excellent tutor. We found 'Tara' to be patient and understanding and Zena went from a D to getting B's and C's. We were very happy, thanks to Tara and ezy maths tutoring.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as St Albans Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Cairnlea Park Primary School-Western Special Assistance Unit - Language.
