To be kind and patient when teaching a student new skills, but to be rigorous in teaching. To quickly dissuade any mistaken habits, and promote the learning of correct and useful skills that will benefit the student for the rest of their life. I feel I make a great tutor because of my warmth and charisma. I love connecting with and inspiring…

Patience because it is very easy for students to get frustrated when they aren't able to immediately understand a concept. Therefore breaking down tasks into smaller steps allows students to always improve their knowledge. Being able to keep students engaged and understand that every student has a different way of learning, which I achieve through…

I think that the main role for a tutor is to guide the srudent through their learning. This is a different role to what a teacher plays as a tutor's role is to help the student build on specific weaknesses and consolidate strong areas in a given subject. Ability to communicate, organisation and…

The most important thing for a tutor to do is to make sure the student is understanding them. It is highly important to teach in a way that is most effective for each individual student, that way they are maximising their improvements. I am highly patient and have many way to describe various scenarios or to…

I believe making the lessons relatable and being available for the student in times of need outside the tutoring lesson for example if they were stuck on just one question and knew they could send it to me for some quick help. I have great people skills especially with children due to several previous jobs. I like to be relatable to the student so…

Local Reviews

We had a very good experience with Ezy Math. They were very proactive and great to deal with. When the first tutor we hired didn't work for us, we requested a change and they were quick to find us a replacement who was excellent. Jenny Wong is a great math Tutor and was kind, compassionate, patient and excellent at tutoring Maths. My daughter really benefited greatly and built much confidence and did well under her tutoring. Ezy Math regularly ask for feedback to see how things are going and are happy to work with you to make sure you have right tutor for your child.

Inside CamberwellTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 6 student Adele worked on operations with decimals, including multiplying and dividing them, and practised applying place value concepts to support accuracy.

Year 7 student Mia reviewed algebraic expressions—simplifying, factorising, and expanding brackets—and explored multiplying exponents with the same base using step-by-step written explanations.

Meanwhile, Jaidan in Year 8 focused on mastering Pythagoras' theorem by breaking down the formula's application to right-angled triangles and also spent time reviewing his recent test to address specific misunderstandings in geometry.

Recent Challenges

In Year 3 maths, one student often guessed answers for worded division problems or larger multiplication facts instead of working them out, saying "it's too hard" before attempting. This led to repeated confusion with remainders and symbol meanings.

In Year 7, another student rushed mental arithmetic rather than writing clear steps—"he prefers rushing through his working rather than writing it out step by step," a tutor noted—which made it difficult to track down errors in negative number calculations.

By Year 10 algebra, skipping written working meant sign errors went unnoticed until results were checked at the end, leading to frustration when mistakes accumulated.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Camberwell noticed Jayden's answers have become more structured and thorough—he now explains each step in algebraic problems, rather than just giving the final answer.

Jaidan, a high school student who previously struggled with Pythagoras' theorem, was able to spot where he'd gone wrong on his last test and corrected his approach when reviewing practice questions.

Meanwhile, Mia has started asking for clarification instead of skipping tricky worded maths problems; this shift means she now completes most multi-step questions independently, including finding 10% off prices and calculating change with decimals.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

I wanted to send a quick note to advise how impressed I was with the young man who visited our home to commence tutoring my son Samuel last week, Darius.  He was absolutely delightful and both Sam and I are looking forward to improving Sam's math with Darius' assistance and support this year.  Although it was our initial meeting with Darius I feel that he will be an excellent role model for my son moving forward.

Ezy Math Tutoring was an excellent service for my daughter who had been finding maths hard.   It provides one on one tuition at the home of the student and the tutors tailor the work directly to the needs of that student.    I recommend Ezy Math Tutoring as it is well organised,  efficient and highly convenient.    Our tutor was very patient and helpful and our daughter's maths grades improved.  In addition, we received progress reports, and information regarding further maths resources.

Ally seems to have settled in very well with Ben and enjoys learning with him. She finds that he is easy to understand and explains mathematical concepts well.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Camberwell Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Camberwell Girls Grammar School.
