Keep track of the student's process and adjust accordingly, everyone learns at a different pace and it's important to treat them individually, especially as a tutor. I'm currently studying software engineering at University of Melbourne and on track for a Math Diploma with 3 years of experience in tutoring. I am able to form good logic, and cable…

I believe the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to develop their ability to learn and think independently. One of my favourite quotes is "If you give a man a fish, you feed him for a day. If you teach a man to fish, you feed him for a lifetime." Teaching students how to learn not only helps them to do well in their exams, but…

For a tutor, the most important role is to create a unique interest in the subject for the student which is tailored to their specific strengths and curiosities, encouraging them to pursue their learning in a more self-driven fashion. A love for my subjects, a passion to share my interest, patience when students are having difficulties, unique and…

To not just teach the subjects needed but also to bond with the students, to really understand what we can do to help them gain more understanding about the subject. I always think my strengths as a tutor is my ability to really understand the student so that I can teach more effectively. I also a very laid back but still very serious when…

The best thing a tutor can do is leave a student with the tools, knowledge and confidence to continue advancing their academic career without relying on the tutor or teachers. I'm quite smart but also good at talking and listening to people. I see one of my strengths as being able to articulate an idea in a simple way, especially with Economics,…

Being flexible for the student, both in time and place for tutoring and more importantly with the content. The most important thing a tutor can do is to give a student the necessary tools and confidence required to pursue their own learning. Explaining concepts in new ways that are understandable for the student and giving them opportunities to exercise what they know are very important for this process. This will be even more effective if the tutor…

The most important thing that a tutor can do for a student, in my opinion, is to help them learn whatever they want to learn, even if they have a lot of difficulty understanding it. The first and most important thing would be the fact that I myself was a school student not long ago, and am a university student still, so I would understand what my…

I think it is important that a tutor be able to explain a concept in a way that the student can understand, internalise and remember, while tapping into their passion for the subject, rather than strictly and laboriously forcing them to rote-learn concepts (with the exception of fairly simple ideas like times tables of course) I think my strengths…

The most important things are studying with students together and help them by giving a hint, not a solution. This is because learners can recognise what the student's are struggling as if they had the same problems and can help them effectively. Additionaly, if we give just effective hints to them, they can progress the problem and they can…

I think both party would enjoy to do…

A good tutor will identify the student’s learning style so that they are able to present information in a way that has the greatest effect.Tutors should ascertain which building blocks the student is missing in their foundation of knowledge. Filling in these missing building blocks will establish a strong foundation on which they can build.A…

I'd say one of the key things is creating a comfortable space where students feel free to ask questions without hesitation. Building that trust is like laying down a solid foundation. I think instilling a genuine curiosity and love for the subject goes a long way. It's not just about acing tests; it's about fostering a relationship with the…

I would consider the most important thing a tutor could do, would be to teach their student more than they knew to begin with. It's a very simple statement, but it gets to the heart of the matter I feel. All the methods a tutor uses should be geared towards helping the student learn something, and have them understand and remember what they've…

Inside CampbellTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 8 student Angus worked on expanding brackets and solving linear systems of equations, including using geometric representations of binomials to visualise solutions.

For Year 10, Emily focused on simplifying fractions with exponents and tackled a range of simultaneous linear equations, practicing both substitution and elimination methods.

Meanwhile, James in Year 12 reviewed differentiation techniques relevant to his upcoming Maths Methods assessment and spent time analysing the domain of more complex functions to strengthen his understanding for exam revision.

Recent Challenges

A Year 8 student in Campbell was hesitant to begin worded algebra questions, often waiting for reassurance before translating the scenario into equations—"once prompted, he finished them," a tutor noted.

In Year 10 Physics, another student struggled to independently choose the correct trigonometric rule when faced with multi-step problems, hesitating over how to rearrange bracketed terms.

A senior student preparing for exams did not bring attempted problems to lessons, which meant opportunities for targeted feedback and problem-solving strategies were missed.

Each of these moments left valuable lesson time underused and reduced the chance for deeper confidence to build.

Recent Achievements

A Campbell tutor recently noticed a big shift with Thea (Year 11): after hesitating to speak up in earlier sessions, she now openly says when she's stuck and patiently works through tough concepts. Last lesson, she managed expansion questions entirely on her own for the first time.

In Year 10, Eliza has started catching her own mistakes while rearranging equations, a big change from before when she'd rush ahead and miss errors.

Meanwhile, a primary student remembered all their revision material straight away after struggling last term, confidently solving each problem without prompting.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

I joined EzyMath more than 2 years ago. The admin has always been around to help and replied to my emails promptly. I was offered a number of students, few of which I continued for 2 years. My biggest accomplishment as an EzyMath tutor was to help students grow, as well as benefit from it for my own growth. I started tutoring a student when he was starting his year 7 and tutored him till he was starting year 9. I hope that the student benefited from my guidance, but there was a lot I could learn from the session as well. Working with young children has been a tremendous benefit since they possess such vibrant energy. I came to work at EzyMath as a uni student looking for a part time work. EzyMath was professional, motivated and constantly taking feedback from the tutors and the students to enrich the tutoring experience for all. I would certainly recommend tutoring for EzyMath, for both clients and prospective tutors.

I chose to work with EzyMath because it was very flexible and I could fit it around my uni schedule. Tutoring has really helped me learn how to explain concepts effectively and also greatly improved my leadership and communication skills. Witnessing my students' gradual improvement in not only their technical skills but their confidence in the subject was extremely rewarding. I would recommend EzyMath to fellow tutors and prospective clients.

I'm an older student studying nursing this term I had a maths calculation exam that required 100% to pass . As you can imagine I was "freaking out !!! " 100% are you crazy !!!!!! . Then I meet Lisa !! she was one of my favorite people !! she was punctual, organised , and willing to spend the extra time if needed ,Lisa  researched  and came up with numerous, exams ,test and quiz's and got me all sorted with all the necessary formulas that where need to  get my brain working again . I actually believed I could do this . It was the happiest text I'd ever sent to notify Lisa I passed !! 100%  Wow ,I would have not been able to do it with out Lisa's help .

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Kingston Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Campbell Primary School.
